In a World Where All the Women Want Me, Help!!!

An Isekai Harem Story

Chapter 1 by dracone dracone

Yuri Althaus was your typical teenager with way too much time on his hands and more money than he knew what to do with. Honestly, this was not where he thought he would be when he was 19 but here he was, at the age of 19, and in a position that just had him in a state of boredom. His family was filthy, stinking rich, and had been that way since the time of his great grandfather, at least. Unlike most rich brats, Yuri was spoiled but didn’t really act like it, granted he got almost everything he asked for with no questions asked but he still found it all uninteresting. Instead of living in a penthouse in some big city, he lived in a three-story house in the countryside, it wasn’t quite a gated manor but it still had clear boundary markers that told you that you weren’t welcome.

Most of the house was decorated with his interests, mostly collectible merchandise for anime and manga series, some of which was expressly delivered from Japan. Most of the figurines he has are anime girls, all his figurines have their own room. The garages only had one vehicle, an SUV modeled after a certain character from the Transformers franchise, the rest of the garage area was filled with various larger items.

Yuri was actually pretty smart, he had managed to graduate from all levels of school without having to resort to bribery, he actually looked down on those that basically bribed and/or intimidated their way into good grades. Granted, Yuri himself was mostly lazy, mostly due to a lack of investment in his courses but he at least made sure to be aware enough of things to acquire enough information for a passing grade. A trend he ironically figured would continue on through college.

Yuri was now 19, he graduated from high school at 17, that meant he had two years where he wasn’t in school, and he had plans of waiting another two years before giving college a try. Unfortunately, this had the added side effect of giving way more free time than he knew what to do with. He had read through his entire collection of light novels and manga, numerous times by now, and had accounts with several MMORPGs that he played sporadically. He had preordered a copy of a new light novel that was coming his way just recently, and since he had preordered it that meant it would come with a bonus collectible of some kind. Curiously, the collectible item that came with the new book was not named, so there was no telling what it might actually be.

Being a redhead with slightly tan skin also gave Yuri a bit of an exotic look to him. He hadn’t had a haircut in months, likely due to restrictions on physical businesses at the time and his refusal to use the personal hairdresser/barber his family employed. Yuri was a bit of a stubborn person, or maybe he was just really strong-willed, likely a bit of both. Either way, his family had mixed feelings about it all. His features and complexion did give him what some would call an exotic look, a mix of Japanese, Scandinavian, and Welsh would do that for you. His skin tone was a lighter shade than most Japanese but his build was a bit more British with a very Scandinavian facial structure.

So now, Yuri was lounging in his library in a t-shirt and lounge pants, both themed for different anime and manga series, watching anime reviewers on various social media sites on his custom high-end gaming computer, several thousand dollars truly well-spent. He was also keeping an eye on his delivery alerts, he was within the window for his pre-order to arrive at the house now. Even so, he was still bored out of his mind.

Yuri had never been that attractive looking, at least compared to his siblings, and had never been part of “those groups” in grade school, middle school, or high school. Of course, he was also the only one among his siblings that didn’t blatantly throw their money around like it was candy in a kindergarten. By every metric he knew, Yuri was just barely above average, but then again, maybe some of his comparisons needed to be reevaluated.

Finally, after days of waiting, his package arrived. Inside was the first volume of a new isekai series, one that promised to play with the formula a bit. Help, I’m in Another World Where My Love Interest is Overpowered but Useless was a work that was supposed to satirize overpowered love interest stories. And it came with an additional prize, a “time capsule” in the shape of a kite shield. Yuri decided to open it to see if it had any additional prizes inside. Little did he know this would trigger a series of events that would also have him spending a good amount of time cursing that he had opened the thing. Almost as soon as the capsule was opened, Yuri felt himself being pulled somewhere completely new.
