Adventure awaits
Chapter 1
by Superflie
Every year, hundreds of people, come to the great city of Runswick to attend the famous Runswick Adventuring School. The school teaching everything an adventurer would need to survive out in the harsh world. Combat, survival techniques, and even communication skills are all taught to the students. And after 3 years, finally the students graduate and become official adventurers, ready to roam the land and make a name for themselves.
Every year, a few students shows incredible skill. They preform top of the class in almost all fields. These students get the chance to take the Heroes Trial. A grueling week long test that puts all their lessons and skills to the test. And every few years, a student passes the trial and becomes a hero. A renowned title with many perks. Free lodging at inns in most places on the continent, free meals in taverns across the land, and fame amongst the people.
These heroes often gather parties of adventurers, or even other heroes and go on the hardest and most dangerous quests. Fighting armies of monsters, taking down demon lords, or stopping invading enemies to the continent. If a hero's deeds are great enough, He becomes a Legendary Hero, honored through out all time. Only a few have ever reached this status, though many dream of it.
One man who dreams such dreams is Alesander Malle. Someone who recently passed the hero trials. No one has passed it in 10 years, and finally a new hero has made it. But this year, something that has never happened, happened. Not just one person has made it. But four incredible students have all passed the hero trials. Each of them wanting to be a hero for a different reason.
Alesander Malle, wants to become a Legendary Hero, just like the man he looks up to, the Legendary Hero Zeross. He's considered the greatest hero of all time. He live his whole life helping as many people as he could. Even after becoming a Legendary Hero, he'd still take small quests just to help others. This is what Al wants. He wants to help as many people as he can. He has a strong sense of justice and a big heart. He's already better with a sword then most veteran adventurers.
Willow Malle, Al's twin sister. She's a strong willed girl who wants fame. She wants to be a celebrity when she walks into a town. She wants all the benefits that comes with being a hero. She wants to be showered with gifts when people meet her. And she wants people to worship her like a goddess. She an expert archer that can take out even some of the most dangerous monster with a single arrow. She's a busty redhead with a pretty womanly figure.
Brutus Salamander, a hot headed noble. He wants to be a hero for one reason. The women. He wants to uses his status and charms to woo as many woman as he wants. He wants to build his own harem and return to his families land to rule. He fights with a two-handed great axe, and has monstrous strength. No one was able to beat him in a test of strength. He's also much faster then people would expect someone carrying a large axe would be. His martial abilities are second to none.
And finally, Alice Harley, a petite and shy mage. She didn't want to be a hero, but her parents made her go to the school. She was surprised to be given the opportunity to take the trial, but passed with flying colors. Her knowledge of magic and alchemy is astonishing. Her internal mana battery seems endless, allowing her to cast stronger spells then most. She is small, in both height and body.
The year comes to a close, and the four of them all stand in front of all the others in their class, being granted their title from the queen herself at their graduation. They all rise after the queen bestows their title to them. The crowd cheers for the four for a few minutes before the queen quiets them. She gives all the graduating students her blessing before leaving the stage. After the ceremony, the twins and Brutus are in front of the school.
"I can't believe we both became heroes." Willow excitedly talks to Al. "The twin heroes, people are gonna eat it up." She's already imagining all the people who know her name.
"I'm more worried about the people who needs our help" Al rolls his eyes. He knows his sister's quest for fame and attention.
"And when we help people, they'll have to give us stuff as thanks." Willows eyes seem to glow when she mentions being rewarded.
Just then Brutus walks up to the two. "And woman will even throw themselves at heroes after they see how strong you are." Brutus flexes his large arms.
"Gross" is all Willow says.
"Oh come on Willow, we want the same thing. Fame and recognition. We want people to worship us." Brutus gets in between the twins.
"No you want woman. I want fame." Willow tries to push past him to walk away.
Brutus stands firm. "But if you help me, we can get both" Brutus puts his hand out as if to shake hands.
"Ha, help you? I don't need your help, you couldn't even beat me 1 on 1, remember. Two months again you couldn't land a blow on me before I took you down." Willow quickly grabs his hand and shifts her weight. She uses Brutus own size against him and tosses him on to the ground and starts to walk away.
"Then let's go, right now." Brutus stands up and grabs his axe. "I just didn't want to hurt you back then and get in trouble. But now we graduated, so I don't have to hold back."
Willow grabs her bow from her back. In the blink of an eye, she lets a an arrow loose and it hits the ground less then an inch from Brutus' foot. "The next one hits you. So back down."
"OHHH now my blood is pumping." Brutus lifts his Axe and rests it on his shoulder. "You will have to kill me to get me to surrender. But don't worry, I won't hurt you to much, I just want to get you to submit. I win, and we team up." He has a large smile on his face. Then in an instant he runs forward, charging at Willow.
"Fine, cause you can't win." Willow notches another arrow and quickly takes aim. She doesn't want to kill Brutus, but she does want to hurt him, to knock him off his high horse. Maybe give him his punishment for all the harassment he's given her for the last three years. He'll finally leave her alone. She left the string go and the arrow flies towards Brutus, but with his speed, Brutus jumps over the arrow and starts to crash down where Willow is. But she expected this. She knew he couldn't dodge while in the air. All she had to do was land an arrow in his arm, and he'll drop his axe. In an instant, she looses another arrow. It lands directly on mark, hitting Brutus in the forearm and causing him to drop the axe midair. For a second, Willow smiles, thinking she's won. Suddenly Willow's smile fades. He may have dropped his axe, but he was still dropping straight at her. Brutus still wearing that shit eating grin. Willow has to make a choice, either meet him where he lands with her dagger, or dodge and keep her distance advantage.
