He improved agriculture, created a basic military structure, and outlawed some of the depravities of the past, including and sex slaves. The early years of Kruh's reign were rough. He faced a fair number of revolts and attempts and many goblins left the tribe in disagreement with his new ways. . Yet in time, he got only respect but admiration. Sadly, illness took his life, and his son, Vehumet, became the new chieftain.

The young ruler came home only several months prior to his father's , prior to that he spent three years in a human city learning how to rule. He learned a lot there but many, including some influential older goblins, weren't sure that he learned what a goblin ruler should learn. Some voices even suggest that Kruh's illness wasn't natural and Vehumet somehow caused it.

Everyone knew that the future decisions of the young chieftain will shape the fate of the tribe. Abbs yet, he wasn't the only one capable to steer the tribe in one way or another. Lishau, Vehumet's half-sister, Garuk, the mightiest warrior of the tribe, Tooroh, a talented young shaman, and many other members of the tribe had their own ambitions and desires.
