Girl at the Coffee Shop
Inspired #1
Chapter 1 by KamenWriter
The night was dark within the city. The rain lashed down. An endless onslaught that showed no sign of stopping. The dark sky held no hint to how long the storm would continue.
Most would stay in their homes at this time. Curled into bed, or sitting by a fire. Maybe some would watch the rain, or play music to drown it out of their own world.
The city never sleeps. The night, despite the cold wetness, was lit up by cars and businesses, like a parody of Christmas. A form of manufactured joy that kept the darkness away, at least. Yet the rain could somehow keep spirits low.
The night is filled with all kinds of people. From those with nowhere to go, and other's with people to see. Hunters. Survivors. Pedestrians. Rich. Poor. Male. Female. There isn't a uniform to them.
Sitting alone inside the coffee shop, staring out into the night, is a girl. Her drink steams beside her, but she doesn't even look at it. Perhaps it's too hot? Or perhaps she is lost in thought.
Is she bored? Worried? Scared? Every person you cross is the protagonist of their own story. What is her's?
Is she in college? Recently broken up with her childhood sweetheart? Maybe she just has nowhere to go. Maybe she doesn't want to go anywhere else.
Of course, she isn't the only person in the shop, is she? There is at least one other person here. Her story isn't the only story, after all. It is one of many.
Who are you?
