Escape the Mystery house

Escape the Mystery house

A riddle with physical complications

Chapter 1 by CrawlingM CrawlingM

"Shit, this is bad." You think as you try and fail to open the door you just entered through. You are drenched to the bone after a sudden thunderstorm fell onto your head outside, where you and a friend were walking down the street on your way to a party.

But that wasn't really the reason you were in trouble. You knew the street you were walking down perfectly well, each house and their residents was familiar to you, even in darkness. However, as the skies opened up on you, you found yourself jogging up the walkway to a house you assumed you knew. However, your friend stopped a few feet behind the door as you just opened it.

"Wait, I don't recognize this house," your friend says as you stop in the hallway, looking back at them. As you look outside you get a weird sense of dread as the walkway expands, pushing your friend further down as the previously two foot high hedges circling the area, in seconds grow in height to ten, fifteen feet. Your friend and yourself fail to move, the door you just opened suddenly slamming shut, an ominous echo reverbing through the house you just entered. This place sounds massive, much larger than anything you remember being built in this neighborhood.

You try the door again, giving it a shake, but it seems to be locked. There's no key in the lock and the glass in the panes are very warbled. You think you see a silhouette of your friend standing outside, but it looks like they're stuck behind a tall iron gate integrated into the hedge. You think you can hear them call out to you, but it sounds like someone talking into water.

You turn around and gaze into the eerie building, pondering what to do. You glance down at yourself and your drenched clothes.

What do you see?
