Dorm Room Daze

It was Christmas break, and naturally, everyone was leaving- everyone except me. It's not like I lived far from my family or anything- I attend Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit, and my family lives in the same city- but I just don't want to attend another awkward family function with cousins you don't see or don't care to see and all the fake niceties that come along with it, so I decided to stay.

        It didn't bother me much- Of course I planned to see my immediate family, 

but the extended family can kiss it where the sun don't shine as far as I'm concerned. My friends had all invited me to come visit their families- in Colorado, Missouri, even Kansas. But I turned them down. I was rocking out to third eye blinds "semi-charmed life" when I heard a knock on my door. "Come in!", I yelled.

I could see the door open from the corner of my eye and knew from the tall figure who it was.

"Hey, Lauren!", yelled Ryan. "I'm giving you one last offer to hit the slopes with me and the rest of the O"Brien family!" As sweet- and hot as Ryan was, I had a hard time not accepting his offer. standing 6'3 with broad shoulders and a body to die for, the brown hair and blue eyes only added to the pain I felt denying this guy. But I couldn't help not to. As cute and sweet as Ryan was, I knew it would be
bad for both of us if we got involved. So I had to decline. "No thanks, white boy, You can go break your legs skiing, while I stay here in good ol' Detroit".

White boy was a nickname I gave him the first week that we both moved on campus, and he didn't mind. So I stuck with it. Of course, I had to have one too, so he calls he Becker's (although I'm black, I tend to listen to rock music more than rap or r&b, and I didn't like Becky, so I chose Becker's.) Rarely did he call me by my real name, only when he was serious about something.

"Are you sure you don't wanna come? PWWWWEEEZE?", he yelled mockingly, and gave me a puppy-dog face that made me melt. For a second, I actually considered going......
