Chapter 1 by Yabusa Yabusa

"Your guest has arrived, Ms. King."

As the large wooden doors to the library of the King estate are opened by one of the many assistants throughout the mansion, you are greeted by a red-headed woman, seated in a chair next to a roaring fireplace with a book in her lap and an ancient wooden box by her side. The box appeared to be decorated with Latin writing and paintings, but little else was obvious about it. It, like many things collecting dust on Emilia King's shelves looked like it belonged in a museum, and felt like they had a bit of a creepy, almost supernatural aura about them whenever one caught your eye.

The eccentric Emilia King is the granddaughter of the legendary treasure hunter Archibald King, and heiress to his fortune and collections after tragedy struck her family. Emilia herself is known to be highly injury and illness prone, for one reason or another, making it impossible for her to continue her family's legacy as a renowned archaeologist. However, if Emilia is anything, she's brilliant. While her grandfather was himself well-versed in archaeology, he only ever understood the history of the objects he collected--but never how their hidden powers might actually be unlocked.

Emilia, however, has spent much of her almost three decades of life bedridden, studying her grandfather's collection to a degree nobody else cared to look. And there are more than a few rumors that Emilia's relentless study of the supernatural and the occult had resulted in some profound discoveries... What exactly might Emilia be searching for in her acquired collection of powerful artifacts, nobody knows.

What you also didn't know was why you were here! Things haven't exactly been going smoothly for you as of late, and at your lowest point, you found Emilia's business card slipped into your belongings with a date and time attached. What interest Ms. King might have with you was impossible to--

"I imagine you're wondering why you're here." Well, Emilia's nothing if not perceptive.

"Uh, yeah, you could say that," you replied, as Emilia motioned to a seat nearby. She offered a smile, one that seemed friendly but felt slightly cold and practiced. It didn't exactly put you at ease, as you looked around nervously.

Emilia captured your wandering attention with some ice in her words and her eyes, freezing your gaze upon her as she clearly didn't want to waste much time. "So. Tell me about yourself."
