Chaos Theory

Author's note:
In this story when presented with a choice the outcome won't always be what you expect.
It's an adventure where you get to choose your (or perhaps sometimes others) actions, but don't choose how other characters respond.
I've also redone the story to include name customisation if you are into that sort of thing.

Looking back on my life now I realised it all traced back to one singular event. It seemed like such a small thing at the time, but seemingly small unimportant events can have major consequences you'd never expect.

Our story starts a while ago, when my wife and I had been married several years. We'd experienced a few highs and lows in our relationship, as I expect any couple do but had been together throughout.

I was working at a small accounting firm a half hour or so from home when we took on a new receptionist. She was young, with no experience, but very attractive, and perhaps in her role that was the most important thing of all. All the guys in the office quickly began spending more and more time with her, finding more little jobs for her to do, or other reasons for them to be in the office lobby, and she seemed to love the attention.

It was a Friday night and I'd been working late trying to finish up on some small issues I'd not been able to resolve while the rest of the staff were using their computers. I was getting hungry and considered leaving the rest of the fixes to another night.
