Back to School

Chapter 1 by TantalEyes TantalEyes

You walk back into the familiar grounds of your high school. Funny to think that in a few short months the place you called home for so many years will be torn down for housing. As a result though, your school reunion has been brought forward, just two years since you left. In fact to remember HSHS as it was you have been invited to recreate a typical day from your final year. Just walking to school has got the nostalgia going and you are now crossing the bitumen basketball courts where you spent so many hours of your lunchtime. The rings are missing, and the bitumen has seen better days, but still the same. There's the school pool, filled with water for "Recreation Week" as it has been titled.

The school is the same, but you can't help but wonder how the people will have changed. Just last night you were looking through your yearbook at all the faces, particularly those of the girls that will now be young ladies. The day could be very interesting indeed. In all likelihood after today you won't see any of these people again unless you make it to another school reunion. Just think, its your last chance to make up for lost opportunities and regrets. With that thought you decide that it will be your goal to hook up with at least one of the girls you used to go to school with.

Walking into the corridor you stoop and take a drink from the fountain just as the siren sounds. The sounds of many people gathering just around the corner in the quadrangle fill your ears. Turning the corner you see the usual collage of colour that is the typical HSHS assembly. To everyone's relief the school didn't enforce a school uniform and so even at school sports carnivals students from your school were easily recognisable by their "individual self expression" (i.e. a mass of clashing colours).

Seeing a friend you hadn't seen since graduation, you move over to him and catch up on the last couple of years together. Mr Haynes your old principal moves towards the microphone and is greeted by his usual standing ovation. Blushing furiously and trying to calm the gathered ex-students with exaggerated hand gestures he eventually regains his composure. Everyone sits down and begins chatting with each other while he makes his longwinded, prepared speech. Eventually it ends with "â€Ļ you should each have the timetable mailed out to you with your invitation, there is a map on the back should any of you need it. Please head off to class and enjoy the day."

Taking the timetable from your pocket you see that first...
