You have to look good for the cameras, attracting both male and female attention and the crazy paparazzi. If you aren’t careful, even a jealous rival or angry nemesis! Cape egos are the lifelines of their work. So it’s real fun to see them knocked down a peg. Maybe it’s seeing Victoria Dallon being pantsed at a local basketball game. Maybe it’s watching Taylor Hebert as her silk body suit falls apart from the heat. It could be enjoying the sight of Tattletale’s costume riding up into a massive wedgie. Maybe it’s all three, the result of the trio arguing over who is the best friend to the other. It could even be the result of unfortunate power interactions! A stray blast of power shreds all clothing in the area! A nightmare cape goes into the dreams to give climatic attacks! A power turns on its host to punish them for being terrible capes! Much like powers, the sky is the limit!

In the not too distant future, cybernetic enhancements are just about beginning to breakthrough into fashionable, mainstream usage. Tight regulations are kept on the likes of muscular upgrades and dangerous hardware installations, of course. However due to the governmental lobbying of telecommunication companies, surgical implants to allow a user to connect to the internet mentally and visually are fast becoming the must-have fashion accessory of the moment. Such surgically-applied accessories come at a high price though… far beyond the allowances of those demographics most for them. Which has, of course, inevitably led to an extensive black market opening up, catering mainly for those young, naive and foolhardy enough to risk allowing the un-registered or unqualified access to their skulls and minds. Besides the obvious medical risks involved… There are also rumours abound of such underground clinics using old, out-of-date software with gaping holes in their security protocols. Or conspiracy theories of such shady businesses actually being paid to install backdoors into their client’s heads, to allow all sorts of untoward access. There are certainly sites on the web where those in the know can piggyback onto the streaming visual data of any number of real individuals going about their daily lives. A voyeur’s dream which is kept semi-legal by half-hearted banner announcements that everyone involved is most definitely a voluntary exhibitionist or paid actor, offering their live POV to several thousand strangers at once. Of course, none of this is enough to discourage those to have access to the latest technological craze… And the mainstream media seems strangely slow and quiet to report on any cases of misuse. So our protagonist, Sam, is only the latest amongst a multitude to have saved up all their meagre, teenage earnings in order to be shown through the hidden back door of the local tattoo parlour. They simply can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and try out their new implants!
