Chapter 3 by Thotar Thotar

Where do we pick up with Weiss?

with Blake!

The night was dark but still held the day's warmth. Despite being a beautiful day, in all honesty, it hadn't felt warm to Weiss. With Blake having temporarily ran away, Weiss had been filled with all consuming guilt, knowing that she'd caused it. Her father would've been so proud. Even now, hours after Blake came back to them, she still felt guilty.

She'd chosen her father's ideas over her team, her friends, her sisters. Weiss shook her head. Not anymore. The moment they'd reunited with Blake, Weiss had made up her mind. She was going to make things right with Blake, so that she could finally close the rift in their team. If she didn't do this, Weiss didn't know if the divide between her and Blake would ever heal.

Healing. That was why Weiss had asked Blake to go on this walk with her. It was nearly midnight but Weiss knew she needed to do this before she'd find a wink of sleep. Blake had seemed a bit confused at the request, but had gone along after seeing the look on Weiss' face.

They'd walked across campus, finding themselves on a bench in a small courtyard that offered a bit of privacy for the talk ahead. They'd been sitting here for almost five minutes now, but Weiss hadn't said a word yet. Blake, to her credit, could see the conflict on her face and was content to sit their in silence until she found her courage. It had been long enough. Weiss steeled herself and opened her mouth.

"I'm sorry for earlier. Actually, I'm sorry for everything." Weiss started. Blake seemed a bit confused, since Weiss had already given her apology earlier. Weiss supposed that made since, but this was going to be a much more intimate form of begging for forgiveness. Weiss would even fall to her knees if necessary.

"I know you are. You already apologized earlier and, believe me, I could tell how sincere you were. I've already forgiven you, as long as you've done the same for me." Blake said simply, smiling at her teammates efforts. Weiss sat on those words for a moment before sighing.

"I don't want to be like my father." Weiss confessed. Blake seemed to recoil a bit in surprise, but didn't say anything. Weiss took that as a sign to continue.

"Everything he taught me is so ingrained in me. Hating almost feels like second nature and I hate that." Weiss explained.

"You can't choose your family. All you can do is learn from them, even if you only learn to avoid their faults." Blake added.

"That's true, but you can choose your friends. You, Ruby, Yang— I've chosen you. I love you all more than my actual family but..." Weiss went quiet.

"But?" Blake asked. Her voice sounded nervous. Clearly, she enjoyed their team just as much as Weiss did and was terrified Weiss' confession would ruin things.

"Ever since you've been revealed as a faunus, I've looked at you differently. His lessons come screaming back to me and I lock up. I hate it so much but it's so hard to take orders from you and not feel like I'm about to be slapped." Weiss confessed, she looked towards Blake, hoping to read her expression.

Blake had a hurt look on her face, before she had a second to think things through. Her expression returned to it's usual neutral state. They sat in the quiet for a minute, then Blake reminded.

"Thank you for telling me, Weiss. I won't lie and say it doesn't hurt, but I can't say I would feel any different growing up like you." Blake said. Weiss' heart hurt at the distant time of voice she used, as if Blake was already given up on their friendship.

"I want to be better." Weiss' exclaimed. The confidence in her voice surprised Blake, who looked her in the eyes for the first time since Weiss' confession. Weiss continued.

"If we're ever going to be good teammates, I can't be like this. What if I hesitate in the field? It's not just me either. I've seen how **** you are to giving me orders, afraid of how I'll respond. We have to be better. We could lose the tournament—or worse—just because of my unwillingness to improve. I won't let that happen!" Weiss said. Blake smiled at the stubbornness in her voice.

"You're right. We do need to be better, but we don't have much time before the tournament. We start the qualifiers in a week." Blake noted. Her expression was back to a slight smile, which meant Blake was quite happy.

"I..." Weiss took a deep breath. She hoped Blake couldn't see the heat she felt rising to her cheeks. Truthfully, once the idea had came to her after the docks, Weiss hadn't been able to get it out of her head.

"Since we don't have much tim to change, I think we should try a more 'enforced' way of taking orders." Weiss offered.

"****. Is that what you mean?" Blake asked. Weiss felt the heat in her cheeks rise further as she nodded. Frankly, she was willing to give up a lot of power to make things right with Blake. If she had to be under the thumb of a hot as hell cat faunus to make that happen, then Weiss would do exactly that.

"In a way..."

"I'm listening..." Blake said, letting Weiss continue with the explanation she clearly had planned out in detail.

"I propose that for the next week, I have to follow any order you give. If I fail to do so, then you get whatever leverage we decide on for your personal use." Weiss proposed. She shrunk in on herself as she waited for Blake to respond.

"You're serious about this, aren't you?" Blake said, surprised at Weiss' resolve. She had no reason to assume that Blake would be a fair person to take orders from, yet, she was still willing?

"I am."

"What's in it for you?" Blake asked. She wasn't overly suspicious of Weiss' intentions. Clearly, she felt awful about her behavior, but this still seemed a bit ****.

"I'll be a better person," Weiss sighed, "And I'll feel less guilty." Blake smiled at her confession.

"Alright. We need to set some rules though. Knowing you, you brought a contract, didn't you?" Blake asked. Weiss blushed in embarrassment but nodded.

She reached into a small bag she'd concealed somewhere and pulled out a neatly folded piece of paper and a pen. The document had a few points already written, as well as a few blank bullet points to allow additional rules. Weiss really had been thinking about this for a while, hadn't she?

Blake read the points that were already in ink.

To paraphrase around the legalese Weiss used:

  • For the next week (168 hours following the signing of this document), Weiss will listen to any order given by Blake, assuming it follows any rules below. If she fails the challenge set by this contract, the leverage of _______ will be given to Blake, no questions asked.
  • Orders must not negatively affect Weiss' reputation in the long term. They cannot risk Weiss' future as CEO of the SDC nor negatively affect her schooling.
  • Orders should not have any consequences lasting beyond the week. No evidence can be left behind besides the agreed upon leverage.
  • This agreement is to be kept private and outside of any huntress activities or tests.
  • The leverage is to be enforced by a neutral third party who maintains the only means of access.

Blake finished reading the document and was pleasantly surprised. Weiss had been very fair with her conditions. She'd expected a clause about keeping her dignity intact and orders pure, but she'd done nothing of the sort. She had no doubt Weiss had considered it, which means she trusted Blake enough to give her that leeway.

The only limitations Blake had were regarding public reputation and permanence, which Blake would have followed regardless. Still, Blake has a few more details she wanted to discuss.

"This is very generous, Weiss." Blake started. Weiss still hadn't lost her flush but nodded.

"I'm putting a lot of trust in you." Weiss said. Blake accepted the unspoken promise of "Don't break it".

"You are." Blake acknowledged.

"I'm serious about it though. I'm giving you this trust because I expect you to actually use it. We desperately need the trust exercise. So I'm trusting you to push my trust to the limits on this, got it?"

"Of course." Blake supposed that trust was sort of like a muscle. If you didn't push that trust to it's limits, you would never trust each other more. Blake could see the logic in that.

"So...?" Weiss asked.

"I accept, but I'd like a few additions."

"Name them."

Blake took the pen and the contract. She gestured for Weiss to come closer. Weiss did so, sliding until they were touching thighs lightly.

"Put your thighs over my lap. I need a place to write." Blake said, the request sounding suspiciously like an order testing the waters. Weiss blushed and put her long pale dancer legs onto Blake's lap. They both tried to ignore the rush that ran through them at the power exchange.

"Now close your eyes. No peeking until I'm done." Blake ordered, for real this time.

With her eyes closed, Weiss had to imagine what Blake was writing. Blake's looping cursive tickled across her delicate skin as she added her own touch to their agreement. Weiss would be lying if she said the touch wasn't pleasant. Brothers knew she was touch starved enough, even with her partner being completely unaware of personal space.

"Done. You can open your eyes and read it." Blake said. She was impressed that Weiss hadn't opened her eyes even once during the five minutes Blake had taken to write. Weiss took the contract from her hand.

Blake's additions were as follows:

  • If desired, Blake can add a single guest to the contract. They cannot give orders of their own, but are allowed to be involved. They must contribute their own leverage and sign the contract.
  • Orders will not be given during lectures, but may continue through them if applicable.
  • If an order is given that violates these rules, Weiss may end the challenge at any time without losing her leverage.
  • Any attempt to destroy or retrieve the leverage early results in immediate forfeit of the leverage to the other party.
  • In order to keep Blake fair, after an order is completed, Weiss may choose to roll a ten sided die one time per order for redemption. If she rolls a ten, Blake must also complete that order, if possible.
  • Blake must add her own leverage (equivalent to 1/10th of whatever Weiss contributes) and will lose it if she fails to complete the redemption task.

Weiss finished reading it. She stewed on it for a moment before she opened her mouth.

"What guest did you have in mind?" Weiss asked.

"I was thinking Sun. He's a nice guy and you did call him some pretty awful things. Most importantly though, we can trust him to keep a secret."

"Ugh, I guess I did, didn't I? Fine. You can involve Sun, as long as he swears to secrecy."

"Of course."

"What about this second to last bullet point?" Weiss asked. She pointed her finger at the redemption clause, which gave Blake a 10% chance of having to complete any task she gave Weiss.

"I..." Blake flushed, "Wanted to make sure that I was being kept in check somehow. I've seen how that kind of power can go to someones head. If there's a risk of having to complete it myself, I'll definitely be more reasonable."

Weiss smiled, relieved at Blake's consideration for her.

"I guess that just leaves the leverage, doesn't it?" Weiss said. She could feel her heart racing as reality began to set in.

"It does. Did you have anything in mind?" Blake proposed. Blake certainly did, but she didn't want to set that kind of tone if Weiss already had something.

"Now that you're putting in leverage too, money won't work. I can't exactly expect you to match 10% of my bank account, can I?" Weiss fidgeted nervously, accidentally knocking the bag over. Blake could finally see inside it. She smiled at what she saw.

A black scroll, different than what Weiss normally carried, rested within. Blake recognized it as a scroll with military grade encryption. It seemed brand new. Paired with the security was the highest end camera a scroll could have. Blake could only think of one reason Weiss would bring something like that.

Weiss didn't try to stop her as Blake reached into the bag and brought the black scroll into the daylight. She inspected it and only confirmed her earlier suspicions.

"Are you sure?" Blake asked. Weiss nodded.

"Say it." Blake ordered. If she was going to do this, she wanted Weiss to be explicitly clear.

"Fine. I knew you wouldn't go for money, so I brought this for... Photos." Weiss was blushed furiously red. Not even the moonlight could hide the red contrasting with her pale skin.

"What kind of photos?" Blake knew, but wanted to be sure.

"Scandalous ones." Weiss admitted.

Blake could scarcely believe her ears. Weiss Schnee, heiress to the wealthiest company on Remnant, was offering her ****. Not just any ****, but nude photos. The kind that if released, would quickly rocket to the top of Remnant's various porn sites, where millions of faunus and humans alike would pleasure themselves to Weiss' perfect figure. It was more powerful leverage than her bank accounts and spoke volumes to the trust she was giving Blake.

"If you're sure, then I agree. I'm assuming you want Ruby to be our third party?" Blake asked. Weiss nodded.

"There's a safe, under my bed. It uses a fingerprint scanner to lock and unlock. Without telling her any details, I was going to have her be our only access. The scroll will be locked with a password set by you, so that I have no access until the end of the week."

With all her terms satisfied, Blake picked up the contract and filled in the blank in the first bullet point with 'Scroll'. Then, she signed her name at the slot on the bottom in the slot for her name.

She took the contract and the pen and held it out to Weiss. Weiss swallowed and accepted it.

"You can still back out and I won't think anything less of you. Once you sign your name though, I'm holding you to this contract, just like SDC does to it's miners. We'll collect our leverage and you'll start obeying. Think carefully before you sign."

Weiss did so. Biting her lip, she carefully mulled over the contract. She tapped the pencil on a specific term, the one about the redemption roll following a task.

"Is there any consequences to me rolling the dice after an order?" She asked. Now that Blake thought about it, maybe there should be. If they had to roll a dice after every completed order, it would be incredibly time consuming.

"Now that you mention it, yes there is. If you roll a one, I get to add another photo to the scroll. That way you'll save it for important orders. Sound fair?" Blake suggested. Weiss took the pen and wrote the addition onto the end of the term. Then she took a deep breath and signed her name at the bottom. She set the pen down nervously and looked to Blake.

Blake pulled out her own scroll and set a timer for a week. Suddenly, that seemed like a much longer time to Weiss.

"Before I start giving you orders, we need to get our leverage together. Are you ready for a photo shoot Weiss?"

Weiss only hesitated for a moment before nodding. Blake smiled and stood up. She looked around and smiled further. They wouldn't even have to go anywhere, after all, this courtyard was the perfect spot for taking photos, even if Weiss probably predicted more privacy.
