After becoming an Outer Disciple, Mǎ Fáng knew he was fucked. Thinking back to his knowledge of cultivation stories, Outer Disciples were basically just there to make up the numbers and be cannon fodder; they were kept around in case they actually became something of worth, but Outer Disciples were forbidden from going past the outer districts of the sect, leaving the rest of the sect and future positions for Inner Disciples. The others could still visit him, and maybe even bring him in, but being caught unchaperoned in the actual parts of the sect would carry heavy punishments.

Thus, Mǎ Fáng decided that to save his life and future prospects, he might as well try bribing one of the judges.
