an air-ballet, and an orb

Pippa walks awkwardly toward the forest, onto her quest for clues.

Pippa hears some cackling nearby. inspecting further it seems that lights are dancing around in some distance

the lights seem to flicker, randomly wandering around nearby

Pippa is intrigued by thoses lights. While it could be some trap, she gets closer to examinate.

she sees some creatures, imp-like but with wings chasing each other around. There's multiple, each with a different color

Pippa shivers a little, not liking much imps nor bats. She hides herself and tries to see if there anything else of importance.

she can tell that the mephits in this case are elementally aligned. there's six of them she can make out, fire, ice, electricity, earth, light and poison. they seem to chase each other more for fun than anything else, zapping and blasting each other

Pippa decides to take a small rest, and to watch thoses for awhile, staying hidden in a bush

it seems the creatures take little notice of their surroundings in their game. Pippa can rest

they take a while more, before the mephits disperse and play somewhere else presumably. they leave something back however, it looks like an orb or something, softly shimmering in the grass

after checking that it looks clear, Pippa goes to to orb to examinate it

it feels and looks like glass, inside swirling the remnants of the mephits powers.... it looks like they still tease and tackle each other inside

Pippa doesn't know what to do with a such item, nor how to use it. But it might be valuable, and probably could be bartered later. So Pippa takes the orb, put some clothes around it and stores it in her bag.

the cackling vanishes at last, as the mephits get even further away and are now out of Pippa's listening range
