Chapter 24 by Yabusa Yabusa

Do you go with the lieutenant to the Air base?

You reluctantly agreed

"I just want it to be clear that despite being comprised of over five-hundred Hideki biotech patents from the past twenty years, I'm also still the assistant director of Hideki Labs and have enough authority to suspend any activities or tests at any time. So don't expect to get free reign to experiment on me without my consent." You glanced toward Dr. Brooks, squinting to drive a point home. "It's not like we would need a government contract to make a big impact with our most recent developments."

Dr. Brooks seemed to register what you said, even accepted it briefly, before he rolled his eyes a little. "Enough with the drama, it's not like they're going to dissect you like you're some alien at Roswell."

"I can open multiple layers of my body for their inspection, but I think they can get all the data they want from our lab here."

"Understood, ma'am." Lieutenant Collins was eyeing you carefully, especially since the blue dress you chose to wear looked stunning on your form. "A summary of our activities will include an interview followed by some aerial exercises. Nothing too strenuous this time around."

You sighed, and then nodded, as you looked around at the room full of scientists. You've given them a week of data to pore over, they were too busy studying documents and spreadsheets to even look your way. "After you, Lieutenant. Can we stop in the cafeteria first? I could really use lunch to go."

Armed with a double cheeseburger and the largest soda size you could find in the cafeteria, you followed Collins outside to a Humvee that had arrived to pick you up. Your presence on the campus in your current form was still a bit jarring to everyone that worked here, but by now the only people that stared at you just wanted to get a good view of your ass as you walked along, so there weren't any major distractions before you were on your way. The only eyes that really seemed to linger was the Lieutenant's, who entered the Humvee after you did, sitting next to you while traveling.

Even in the vehicle, without trying to hide it, his eyes wandered along your body. You squinted a little at him, but your eyes never met his.

While stuck in traffic halfway to your destination, the quiet of the trip was broken when Collins finally spoke up. "You know, I'm not supposed to tell you this, but the Hideki Inside Out program is right now in competition with Yabusa Motors for this upcoming super-soldier contract. Yabusa's figured out how to integrate people and heavy machinery together, and their proposal for the contract was androids. Can you believe that?"

Yabusa Motors wasn't really a company that Hideki Labs was often in competition with, but Yabusa and Hideki did have a rivalry in other tech sectors. "I don't think Yabusa can manage to build androids that would have any effectiveness on the battlefield."

Collins glanced out the window for a moment, then back at you. "I do have one big reason why your exo-suit soldier project would be chosen instead of some Yabusa battlebots." You didn't encourage him on, but Collins persisted. He put his hand on your leg. "Because people like you would be wearing them, surrounded by other solders. And I would bet they don't really want to go sticking their dick in a toaster."

You brushed off Collins' hand, and he immediately put it back. So you grabbed his wrist and swiftly turned. "Maybe we should test that theory to see how unpleasant it really is." You still regretted that you had like Dr. Brooks do what he did, so you ended up being a little extra aggressive as you responded to Collins. The MP in the front seat reached for her gun, but you let go of Collins before anything escalated. Collins, for his part, grumbled a little at being turned down.

"If you just want to touch, at least be truthful about it. No cheesy pickup lines. Maybe if you follow those simple rules, we'll see."

Collins spent the remainder of the drive in silence again, probably wondering what he should say so you'd share his bed tonight. You expected such behavior wouldn't the be the last time today that you had to reject some advances.

You're quickly ushered inside the building next to a sizable airfield, where the hangars were stuffed to the brim with A-10s and F-18s. Collins quickly escorted you to the Colonel's office, as you braced for whatever questions might arise.

What does the colonel want with you?
