You give your sister Evie the ability to help herself:

“Hey Evie, do you really wish you looked more like her?” you ask innocently.

“Of course” she replies, I’ve always felt a little jealous, and who doesn’t want to look better?

As you approach a red light near the field, you reach your hand into your pocket while holding the stone and decide to get creative with your next wish. You want to give her the same gift you have, without making any changes yourself. You wish for a Wishing Necklace that will have the same powers as the Wishing Stone, except that it cannot be used to make wishes against you, against your wishing stone, or cause physical harm to anyone. The stone warms up slightly and in your left hand there’s now a rose gold wishing necklace with an unassuming opal piece.

“What if I told you your wishes could come true Evie?

“I’d say you are crazy, because I’ve been trying my hardest for years” Evie replied back sharply.

“Okay – I wish my eyes are purple” You state plainly while holding the necklace in your hand for her to see. You feel the necklace slightly warm and a tingly in your eyes that quickly fades.

As you stare at Evie, her face looks like it’s seen a ghost and a sudden wave of excitement crosses it.

“HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!?” Evie asks incredulously.

You sway the necklace in your hand that you were just holding and tell her it’s magic.

“I Wish my eyes were their original color again” you state plainly, and the same thing happens, but this time you notice the opal is glowing slightly.

“This necklace has the power to grant wishes, but it must be used responsibly. I found it earlier today and want you to have it, but you have to promise me you won’t use it to hurt anyone”

Evie shakes her head and blurts our “yes, of course, Please!” and you hand over the necklace. This feels like somewhat of a mistake, but you are confident in your safeguards with the wishing stone intact, and Evie did you a solid with Meg.

“Just remember this Evie, and I guess you owe me one”

“Owe you one? I’ll owe you however many this thing gives me in wishes” she says as she fastens the necklace – almost at the same time as you finish pulling up to the field

Evie looks up at you and looks genuinely grateful. This is the first time in years you remember having such a heartfelt moment with her, and you hope you are doing the right thing. “Thanks Jacob” she says, and gets out – “do you want to stay and hang out, or what? If not, I can probably get a ride back.”
