Chapter 13 by Charlesofone Charlesofone

You turn around and see:

Evie – your sister is getting ready to head to cheer practice, but she looks distraught

“Why don’t you two love birds just make out already” Evie sighed at you both sarcastically and with an air of frustration.

“I don’t know what your talking about” You say, but you know she doesn’t really believe it. Evie has spent enough time around you and Meg to know how well you get along, but you didn’t think she’d pick up on you liking Meg.

“It’s pretty obvious to me that you like her, and given what she’s said to me when you aren’t around, I figured you two would have been official by now” Evie said as a number of realizations started clicking in your head. The amount of time you spent with Megan over the summer started to make sense – her making up excuses to spend time with you and inviting you to spend every day with her. Even her gentle teasing yesterday starting to make more sense. Was she getting frustrated enough with you to make the first move on her own? As you trailed off in your own thoughts Evie chimed in again.

“Jacob – you still alive? Just ask her out – I’m sure she will say yes…also Mom is running late so would you mind giving me a ride to Cheer practice today?”

Normally – you’d be annoyed having to drive Evie around because she had no interest in getting her license, but you remembered you had the Wishing Stone in your pocket, so you were more than willing to be the helpful big brother today.

“I’m happy to help sis – thanks for the insight on Meg – appreciate it” and the two of you get in your car to head to the high school fields for her practice.

As you get in the car you notice Evie is still looking upset about something and she seems annoyed still.

“Evie – what’s wrong, are you upset about me and Megan hogging the living room all day?”

“No – that’s fine, I wish the two of you would just get together already. It’s just the girls at Cheer.”

“What do you mean the girls at Cheer, I thought they are your best friends?”

“Well – they are….kinda, but ever since Riley had her little growth spurt over the summer she’s just been cruel to the rest of us. Like, she’s still generally nice, and friendly enough, but she makes fun of the rest of us because we aren’t as developed.”

You remember Riley, almost too well. She was always tall and good looking, but kind of lanky. However over the last year she really filled out and was now rocking a large pair of DD’s on her petite, yet curvier frame. Plus, she was tall, probably 5’ 11” and you knew she’d be trouble for you if she came over to the house again with Evie now.

“I just wish she wouldn’t keep pointing out how flat the rest of us were, and giving us a hard time for not being as strong as her. Everyone on the team is trying, she’s just lucky” Evie sighed…”I wish I looked more like her” Evie pouted looking down at her skinny frame.

You can’t help but feel bad for your sister, but what do you do:
