Chapter 233
by
The Other Guy
Go meet Delilah for breakfast or continue onto the bedrooms?
You aren't invading their privacy, go and eat with Delilah
When you near the kitchen you can hear talking. Delilah's voice sounds very excited and you hear the word 'bigger' followed by snickering. You stop just outside the door and hear Delilah say, "You remember how full those cups were."
"That much? And he came inside you?" The reply made you blush and you rushed inside hoping to cut off the conversation entirely. You remembered fill up those cups but you had always thought no one had every seen you pouring out their contents.
"Morning everyone." You shout, your embarrassment preventing volume control.
"Good morning Sir." The reply from everyone included some lingering looks and your blush grew. Everyone was having their breakfast, and were gathered around the table in the middle of the room. None were in their seats, all were crowded around Delilah with plates in hand.
"Christopher." Delilah said happily. While everyone else was looking at you, you saw some slices of cold meat lifted off the plates of those around her and land on hers. You don't remember Delilah being that carnivorous, was that Eve's influence?
"Your breakfast will be brought to the dinning room Sir. Your father hasn't woken yet."
"Nor has Summer." The hushed comment was met with contained laughter as they tried to not act improperly.
"I was going to eat here." You said with a faint smile. All of the professional relationships you'd built with everyone here felt weird now. And not entirely because you and Delilah had sex. Which reminded you. "Are you all ok with Delilah?" She had grow a head taller and a lot curvier, surely that was worth more gossip than your, production.
They all looked at Delilah who had taken the chances to devour most of the meat she had stolen. She gulped down her mouthful and smiled bashfully. "If it's not out of place Sir." One ventured and you nodded an approval to speak. "Our little Delilah has been in love with you for years." Delilah blushed at the comment and stuffed the rest of the meat into her mouth. "We've been ok with you two being together for almost as long."
"How many times did we do your chores just so you two could have time together?" The comment brought more laughs and Delilah blushed but also took the chance to pinch some more meat.
Well that response pretty solidly proves they either somehow haven't noticed the dramatic change in Delilah, or they aren't able to notice it. You look at Delilah's magic but can't see any illusions. "Wait you all knew?" There was a laugh from everyone and you blushed at your own ignorance. Of course you are the last to know about this.
A plate loaded and placed next to Delilah for you. It has a lot more food than you expected and when you open your mouth to comment you are interrupted. "Delilah said you might need more to eat this morning."
You looked at her and she looked away both of you were blushing at least. Sitting next to her everyone had broad smiles on their faces and were watching the two of you. It was getting kinda awkward when you felt Delilah's knee touch yours. You pressed yours back against hers and every awwwed.
After that they started talking about their plans for the day but you could tell they wanted to talk about the other relationship in the estate but didn't for your sake. "So how many of you knew about my dad and Summer?" You asked actually wanting to talk about that relationship. Everyone looked around the room unsure on how to answer which was an answer. "Really everyone?" Your obliviousness was really crippling a few weeks ago wasn't it. Everyone was holding back laughter and you figured out you were making things really awkward here. You'd had professional relationship with every and now that you'd slept with Delilah you were very suddenly intruding on their breakfast as both the lover of their youngest member and as the son of their employer who had just spent the night with their superior. They had a lot to talk about and your presence isn't making that easy.
You ate quickly, leaving some meat spare to give to Delilah. "Thanks." She beamed at you tearing into it.
"I'll be in the courtyard." You said the hesitated. Kissing her seemed right but there were a lot of eyes on you.
"I-I'll be see you there." Delilah stuttered clearly feeling the same.
"Right, bye." You stood up and walked to the door.
"Bye." Delilah said as you left. The sudden hushed cacophony of questions that exploded in the room confirm you made the right choice. You'll take Delilah to check out the staff bedroom after your morning exercises. In the courtyard you saw the sword waiting for you and smiled, glad sleeping with Delilah hadn't their expectations of your routine. Picking it up you thought about all the swords you had destroyed over the last two weeks. Since this wasn't crap iron it might survive an attempt to imbue it. Also unlike at the academy you knew where to dispose of broken sword pieces.
Focusing your magic on your thumb nail you coat the surface in a thin layer and strip it back. When only the edge of your nail is coated you extend it out into the honeycomb sheet. You wrap the sheet around the blade and sinking it into the metal. The fact it doesn't even glow makes you smile. When it lasts for a few second still unheated your smile turns into a smirk. maybe those crappy iron swords were way worse than you thought. Feeling confident you swung it downward. Nothing dramatic just to test if it felt any different in the air.
You were planing on resting it on the stone but the blade sunk into the stone with any resistance. When you pulled it back up there was a gash in the rock. "Cool." You said looking at the still intact blade. You'd been on the receiving end of imbued sword before and now that you were holding on something was clear. You had no fucking idea how imbuing worked. Anastasia's sword had extended it's length. Stephanie's had fired off a blast. Asune's had cut through your sword. You remember all the instructions you'd been given by your tutors but looking at the thing in your hand made it very clear that this isn't a monkey see monkey do, its a monkey figured it out for themselves hopefully without cutting off any limbs in the process.
You wave the blade in the air a few times and hear a slight hum and start smelling ozone. That seems odd, it had been a long time since you'd smelled ozone and that hum was really familiar but not one you could place right away. The hairs on the back of your arm started to stick up. You didn't feel cold so why would you be getting goose bumps?
Actually, those three things happening at once are more familiar. When you remember what that thing is you are too late. The feeling of electricity arching from your blade down you arm and to your feet is more painful than you expected. It is not however as disturbing as the sound of your heart skipping a beat.
You are frozen for a second as your magic repairs that damage you just did to yourself. When you can move you pull your magic back from your sword. As you do it collapses into little hexagons. "Ow." You say as a shiver starts at your hand and travels down to your feet. Should probably not try imbuing until Stephanie starts teaching you. Exploding swords and pulling shrapnel out of yourself sucks, frying yourself with a personal lightning bolt was worse.
"Are you ok?" Eve's voice was followed by her hands wrapping around your arm. The look of concern of their face made you let out a breath and relax.
"Yeah fine, that, ah, that was a new one." Rubber soled shoes as well, you should get some rubber soles, you might have to invent rubber soles, were there rubber tress in this world? You felt a bit wavy on your feet and they grabbed your chest. "Wow, yeah I might need to sit down." They helped you to the bench and you looked your arm. There was no damage on it but as you shifted your magic around your body you felt your heart wasn't beating quite right, the chambers were beating a little too close together. Fixing that quickly you gave they a reassuring nod. "Ok now I'm fine."
"You should toy with lightning magic, and you shouldn't run it though your body." Eve scolded as she pulled your fingers off the hilt of your sword. "It has to run along your aura, flow your magic from where it starts down to the ground." She put the hilt on the bench and stroked your hands. "I just got you, I'm not losing you the next day." Delilah said. You brought the hand up to stroke her cheek.
"Takes more than that to kill me." You hoped. "And thanks for the advice. How much do you know about lightning?"
They leaned into your palm for a moment before answering. "Its strong offensively and defensively until you meet someone else who know how it works. Flowing it outside your body can nullify most attacks with little to no effort. If you are in the air you can redirect most attacks much easier as well." Even answered. "Of course overwhelming volume can overcome defenses but finding that limit gives your opponent time to think of something else."
Hearing her talk about this reminds you of her backstory. "Do you know much about fighting?"
Her expression darkened for a moment then lightened. "She wants to be with us, she's had enough time with her memories." Delilah said raising her and to cup yours. "I know how to fight." Eve answered. "And I'm not holding back again." The darkened expression came back and you recalled your fight last night and if she was referring to that.
Thinking better than to ask about that at the moment you kiss her. "I don't like fighting, I'd much rather talk things out."
They smiled at you. "I remember how much you like talking, but I'm sure there is something you like doing more." Seems you weren't the only one who was thinking about last night.
You lean into to kiss her when you are interrupted. "Christopher, can I speak with you?" Summer said from behind you.
Both Delilah and you jumped up from the seat feeling like you had been caught doing something wrong. "Of course Summer." You said walking over to her. Delilah gave you a goodbye wave and you waved back as you followed Summer into the house.
What does Summer want to talk with you about?

The world of Calitian is a world of magic whose sentient inhabitants vary from human to decidedly not. You are rather unexpectedly reborn into this world however you do not get the expected god delivered spiel about said rebirth so you are on your own. This should be interesting.
