Chapter 72 by Trom1806 Trom1806

How will the rest of the Coalition reacted to the fall of the Stonewall City? That's an interesting question. But first you have to survive the night ...

You are a participant in the night of Stonewall-City. This battle was risky... And this battle will have consequences...

You have once again become a witness to a massacre that took place in the middle of the night...

Memories of that tragic night **** of Port-Williams, when three united gangs of raiders broke into the settlement because of betrayal, "flashed" in your mind.

And now, in fact, the same thing has happened...

You entered through a breach in the wall into the dark streets of the captured town, together with squads of warriors from Lightning Spears, mercenaries from Axeman-City and militia from Orange Kingdom.

A cacophony of sounds...

Shooting...

Explosions of artillery shells...

Screams...

The glow of fires...

In the flames of fire that engulfed the roofs of buildings, silhouettes of local inhabitants are visible, who run out of their houses in panic.

Men, women, children...

The targets don't matter to the artillery salvos...

Before your eyes, a group of local inhabitants was turned into bloody meat "mincemeat" in a split second by an artillery shell exploding near the house.

The guns continue to fire...

The goal is obvious - to crush enemy troops along the entire perimeter of the defense along the walls and prevent enemy troops from concentrating inside the settlement to organize a counterattack.

But this goal allows for collateral damage - and among the corpses you see the remains of a local family. All of them were simple local inhabitants. They were unarmed.

"What the fuck are you numb for, professor?! If you yawn, they'll just shoot you!" - the sound of lieutenant Moore's voice brings you out of your thoughts.

You move after the ghoul and a small detachment of soldiers who obey him.

You, together with them, shoot at any suspicious silhouette among the narrow streets, huts and large buildings.

The scale of this night **** is, of course, small in comparison with the wars of the past...

Stonewall-City is being stormed by an "army" of about 400 people at most. And the number of defenders of this settlement hardly reaches a couple of hundred armed warriors.

However, the blood and **** still do not cease to be horrifying...

You, as part of a squad, are moving towards the center of the settlement. This is a fortified citadel located on a hill.

Stonewall-City is located on hilly terrain, to the south of the city these hills become larger and further on the horizon there is a rocky terrain and canyons formed as a result of tectonic faults.

Because of this terrain, it was not at all easy for the troops of the "Allies" to get closer to the town. You remember how in the previous days a large number of ambushes and sabotage by small enemy units brought damage to the advancing "army". There were many wounded, there were killed.

And now in this chaotic night battle there will be even more losses...

You shoot at a silhouette flashing in the window of one of the houses with your Smith & Wesson Model 500 revolver.

A return shot!

Your body is thrown aside a couple of meters and you fall on the cobblestones, feeling pain in your chest...

Only thanks to your bulletproof vest - this hit did not become fatal for your life...

Elijah helps you get to your feet and the squad continues to fight its way to the citadel...

On the way, looking towards one of the side streets, you manage to notice how a group of warriors from the Lightning Spears squad is engaged in a process that does not look like a fight at all...

They are busy looting local houses. You see how these raiders are carrying a bag with something valuable out of one house. You also hear discordant female cries of despair from inside this house. It is quite easy for you to understand what is happening there - these raiders are busy **** several local women.

Group ****...

So, you never entertained the illusion that the subordinates of Giselle Wang would behave "like gentlemen"...

Now, it seems, you see one of the obvious proofs of their "morals"...

Your soul becomes heavy from the realization of what is happening - but you are **** to continue following the squad of Elijah.

If you get distracted and remain alone - you simply risk dying.

Therefore, you reload your revolver and your automatic pistol and continue on your way to the citadel.

You and your companions have already approached the gates of the citadel, which are wide open.

The massive wooden doors are destroyed by the explosion. Probably, this is the result of artillery fire.

"Of course, our troops have only a few primitive cannons... But even this is a significant advantage. It's good that the local whitestarists don't have artillery..." - you think, shooting at a group of enemy soldiers with your automatic pistol.

Unaimed shooting in the darkness of the night...

The light from the flames of burning buildings is not a great guarantee of accurate shooting...

You only slightly wounded one of the enemies in the leg.

Return fire **** you to hide behind some cart that was leaning against the nearest hut.

However, you immediately felt pain...

You were not so fast - one of the crossbow bolts grazed your left arm, tearing off a piece of skin in the elbow area.

Blood.

You curse quietly and try to bandage your wound with the bandages in your pack.

The growl of gunfire is so loud that you can barely hear the cries of your companions.

Lieutenant Moore and his small squad have also been **** to disperse and take up positions under the cover of the walls of buildings or other obstacles that could be barricades.

You cast a fleeting glance at the street in front of the citadel entrance.

Two corpses lie on the cobblestones.

These guys were in the squad of Elijah.

And now one of them stares blankly at the dark night sky with a dead man's gaze.

Deep in the chest of this guy are three crossbow bolts with iron tips.

The second guy lies on the ground a few meters to the right - only a disgusting bloody mess remains of his face. A well-aimed shot from a shotgun...

A fierce night shootout continues...

The defense forces of this settlement are routed and **** to retreat, surrendering their positions.

However, this does not stop them from fiercely resisting even in a hopeless situation.

And, therefore, among the **** troops, losses are growing.

More and more dead and wounded...

The bloody battle lasts for hours.

One city block after another is occupied by the troops of the "Allies".

Finally, a large detachment of militiamen of the Orange Kingdom, led by sir Jerry Lawrence, breaks into the fortified citadel.

Sir Jerry Lawrence...

A representative of the forces of the Orange Kingdom in this military expedition...

A stern and brave man who has the title of knight and forces his subordinates to strictly follow his orders.

Most of the militiamen in his detachment are armed with primitive weapons.

Crossbows, bows, machetes, clubs...

As with many town defenders, firearms are of great value and not easy to find.

More than half of Sir Jerry Lawrence's squad died during the **** on the citadel.

However, by dawn, he and the rest of his men had completely occupied the citadel.

By this time, on the outskirts of the city, the troops of "Allies" were finishing off the remnants of scattered enemy groups.

You and Elijah Moore entered the citadel and saw the situation.

Many corpses...

Pools of blood...

Severed limbs...

You were met by Jerry Lawrence, dressed in an old, clumsily "modified" exoskeleton (apparently, this valuable armor is a relic of ancient technology, found in some ruins).

"This rusty exoskeleton looks like a SWAT uniform... Only this thing has a lot of primitive metal elements added by welding... It looks like the locals made some kind of knight's armor out of this thing..." - you think looking at sir Jerry.

In his hands you see a large bloody machete and a large-caliber self-loading pistol (looks like a Desert Eagle).

Among his squad there are a lot of wounded. This is quite logical - most of these guys did not have good weapons or protective gear.

The exception is a small group of bodyguards of sir Jerry. A dozen men who are dressed in bulletproof vests and armed with rifles with bayonets.

"We should start organizing assistance to the wounded..." - you say, taking a step forward.

"Yes, of course... But that's a secondary issue. My serfs are obliged to follow my orders and they are happy to give their lives for their supreme liege - King James II of the House of Orange-Nassau! Now we need to take all the valuables from here!" - it seems that Jerry Lawrence is more concerned with the issue of profiting from the victory.

You and Elijah Moore continue to inspect the inner rooms of the citadel.

On the way, you try to help at least a little bit one of the wounded.

Alas, you have very little medicine...

Half an hour later, Elijah finds something interesting in the basement...

An underground passage (similar to an old mine) collapsed due to an explosion, leading somewhere deep...

Due to the extensive rubble - it is impossible to understand where exactly this underground passage leads.

"It seems that the most dangerous bastards, together with the commandant of this fortress, still managed to escape..." - ghoul voices his observations.

And you have to admit that there is logic in his words.

The whole next day, the troops of the expeditionary **** of "Allies" were busy resting.

To be more precise, they were plundering Stonewall-City.

Many valuable things (money, food, drinks, ammunition, weapons, medicines, and other resources) were obtained and sent to the "army's" convoy.

And you also saw that many local inhabitants were captured.

A significant part of them were women.

And these women had already had to experience many unpleasant things (it seems that case of gang **** was far from the only one)...

When the troops of "Allies" left the plundered and devastated by fires Stonewall-City, a large convoy with stolen valuables and a string of tied up prisoners moved behind the columns of soldiers. You were riding a "local equivalent" of a horse next to Layla Rowland and looked back, seeing many barefoot captives walking...

"Will these people be free after the mutual exchange of prisoners between the warring parties?" - you ask the girl.

"I don't care. I hate all whitestarists! Maybe many of these scums will be sold into slavery in the markets of Axeman-City!" - Layla looks at the captives with disdain and spits in their direction.

Well, compassion, empathy and mercy are clearly not prevalent character traits among most inhabitants of this cruel post-apocalyptic world...

You recall every stage of this military expedition...

Battles with enemy troops, assaults on enemy settlements...

Meanwhile, while you are deep in thought, the "army" of "Allies" is moving north.

Almost a third of those who set out on this risky expedition behind enemy lines died.

There are many wounded...

The soldiers need to return to the vicinity of Port-Williams to recuperate, heal their wounds and rest.

And another goal is to bring home the stolen valuables...

So, the military expedition was successful... However, something was happening at the same time as this expedition...
