“I’ll accept your offer.” You said.

James smiled.

“That’s good to hear. First thing’s first, you will need a surname and a crest. Do you have anything in mind?”

You thought for a moment, then decided to just use your last name from Earth.

“Grant, will be my family name. I don’t know what my family crest should be.”

“It’s fine. We’ll find someone to make a family crest for you. For now, though, I need to speak with the Duke. I will be back in a moment.” He said as he stood and walked to a private room at the back of the stage.

After a few minutes, he returned.

“Alright, your title is already in the works. Tomorrow the Grant family will be fully instated as nobility.”

“That was quick.”

“Yes, well, we’re skipping all the pomp and ceremony, and we don’t need to get involved with the King since the Duke has the right to grant nobility. Besides, the King will probably be fully on board with this plan since it strengthens all the great houses. Though sometime soon you will have to swear fealty to the King.”

“Also, the Duke has given you a gift.”

“On the Eastern side of the King’s District is a small estate. The Mavis family has been trying for years to take it from us, as it was is one of the best properties in the district. The Duke fears that soon the King will **** us to hand it over, as it hasn’t had staff in years. To keep it away from our rivals, the Duke has gifted it to you.”

“Won’t the Mavis family just take it from me?”

“Of course not. It would be beneath them to bully a new family such as yours. On top of that, I doubt they would risk angering you. They will want access to your services.”

“Anyway, it’s getting late, and you probably want to get some sleep. Allow me to take you to your new home.”

The two of you got up from the table and walked to the private room in the back. From there you found a hallway that took you outside the back of the guildhall, where a carriage fueled by mana waited.

Getting in, the two of you set off towards the King’s district.

“This is all happening so fast.”

James laughed.

“Well, usually this would be hard to do, but your ability really is important, and the Kingdom needs all the strength it can get now that the war has ended.”

“Stranger things than this have happened, and since your parents are deceased, it’s easy to set you up as head of your family. So while it may seem crazy to you, the kingdom will accept it easily.”

“How do you know my parents are deceased?”

He looked at you, amused.

“Your information, of course. The data orb records your family's records from your personal menu. Your parents were your only family until monsters killed them a few months ago. I assumed that’s why you set off as an adventurer. Was I wrong?”

“No, you got it right.”

The guardian really had you covered.

“By the way, let me give you my contact information.” He said, opening his screen, then flicking it in front of you.

Reward: Guardian’s Purse.

Ignoring the purse, for now, you enjoyed your ride through the city.

Through a window in your carriage, you noticed you were approaching the inner wall. A guard took one look at the carriage and instantly allowed you entry.

A notification instantly appeared before you.

Inside the walls, you saw clean streets, rich-looking homes, and impressive-looking people. Your carriage took the first left, and went down a street filled with mansions.

“The layout of King’s District is pretty simple, as you can see on your map. The outside ring is residential, which are all rich mansions for the city’s elite. A little further in, you can find all sorts of businesses and parks. In the center is the King’s palace which is surrounded by the 7 family estates.”

“Your own estate lies to the east, which is highly coveted because of its proximity to the markets. The most important things in the city come through the eastern gate.”

You watched as you traveled past massive homes and beautiful gardens. One of the grandest estates you saw was filled with carriages and beautiful people. Someone seemed to be hosting a party.

After around 15 minutes, you came across the most impressive estate yet. There was a giant circle drive surrounded by trees that reminded you of Japanese maples. In the center of the drive was a magnificent fountain 4 levels tall. In the center was a giant golden station of a beautiful woman. On the other side of the driveway were massive marble stairs, flanked by two statues depicting proud griffins.

The mansion itself was an enormous affair. It was a Palladian-style mansion with intricate archways and sturdy marble columns that stood three stories tall. The place had everything you would expect from a rich estate. Huge balconies, massive windows, and beautiful displays of wealth.

It was an extremely lavish estate that sent a message of wealth and power.

“So, what do you think of your new home?” James asked.

“That’s my home?”

You were shocked; when he said “small estate” this is not what you expected.

“It’s incredible… But I thought the estate had no staff? How is it so clean?” you said, staring in awe.

James smiled.

“The mansion has complex magic circles built-in. Dust doesn’t exist inside, the whole place keeps itself clean. The grass stays at the correct height, the gardens and trees always looking perfect.”

“Then why does it need staff?”

“To take care of the occupants. The house might keep itself clean, but the furniture inside still has to be taken care of. Your bedding and clothes still need to be washed, items need to be put back in their place.”

The carriage carried you up the driveway and watched through your window as you passed the trees, Hidden behind them were beautiful gardens filled with even more fountains and a bunch of exotic flowers.

Eventually, you stopped at the bottom of the stairs, and your door opened for you to get out.

“This is as far as I’ll be going. Enjoy exploring your new home. Don’t be surprised if anyone visits you. Everyone already knows you were gifted this estate. The Duke made it very clear. Anyway, have fun!”

You stepped out of the carriage and climbed the stairs into your new home.

You sat in a chair in the master bedroom looking past your room's balcony and into the backyard. The inside of the mansion was truly impressive. Every detail of the house looked like an angel crafted it with utmost care. Most of the rooms were giant spacious areas, limiting the number of rooms the building could have. The main level had huge open living spaces, with a grand dining room, and a large kitchen. Under the Kitchen was even a personal wine cellar, unfortunately though it was empty. The main floor also had the largest bathing room you had ever seen, you began dreaming of filling that room. The last room you found was a massive library filled with all sorts of important history knowledge as well as magic tomes. The second floor was pretty much reserved for staff and guests. There wasn’t much of interest there. The third floor contained the master bedroom, master bathroom, and a quiet study. Using your map, you had actually discovered a secret room hidden in your bedroom that led to a BDSM sex dungeon.

“There always has to be a sex dungeon, doesn’t there?” You laughed.

After you explored the house, you were pleased to find showers existed in this world. Well, kind of. It was really just a spell circle built into a ceiling that would rain hot water onto you. Unfortunately, the building had no clothing anywhere, so you were **** to just sit naked or put your dirty clothes back on. That was a problem for tomorrow.

Exhausted, you stood from your chair and climbed into your bed. You fell asleep the second your head touched the pillow.
