Chapter 5

What will it be then? A frontal , or something a little more subtle...?
You're an ogre after all. What other alternatives do you have?
"Hurr...?" You say as you carelessly stride out around the corner, and find yourself face to face with the small group of invading adventurers. They look about as surprised as yourself though, as they clearly weren't expecting something bigger than the small fries they've fought so far, and you can hear at least one of them call out an unnecessary warning to the others. "Look out! They've got an ogre!"
"Take it down, Hador!" You hear the human knight at the front call out to the archer behind them, and despite the helmet distorting her voice it's pretty obvious that she too is a female. Apparently you've picked the right time to make your entrance, as you can see the elf behind her start looking around for another arrow, and you gain another second while him and the half-elf jumps out to snatch a few of the red-feathered shafts from the fallen goblins around them. Only a few of the defenders are still alive in the blood-smeared corridor, and they all scurry to the sides when they see your imposing figure.
"Cowardly creatures..." You growl to yourself, as you fail to catch another quick meal, but decide that the nasty little goblins could wait until later while you focus your red-eyed glare at the group of so-called heroes before you. The elven archer has just enough time to put an arrow to the string when you take a step forwards, and he barely misses your head when you let out a blood-curling roar which causes him to lose his aim. And with that you're charging forwards, swinging your heavy club in a wide arc before you, and catch the group off guard with your surprising speed and extensive reach.
Even the dwarf is able to dodge out of the way however, thanks to the cleric's spell of shielding, which blunts the **** in your swing and causes your club to move through the air like if you were trying to swing it around in a basin of water. Luckily they're not in a position to counter your attack at least, or you might have taken some heavy damage from their weapons in return, and you manage to press your advantage to scatter their careful positioning.
"Keep together!" The heavily armored warrior cries out to the rest, even as she's stepping aside to avoid the brunt of your follow-up strike, and despite your denseness you're quick to understand that there's something important about their formation. Normally they would obviously be better off to spread out around you, as it's really no use to clump together when fighting a single much larger foe, and you seriously doubt they are afraid of being surrounded by the feeble goblins they've been fighting so far.
That leads you to believe it's got something to do with the cleric's magic, and sure enough it seems like your strikes are further slowed the closer you get to the woman in the back. All this information is processed through your brain at an astonishing speed, considering that you're still but a thick-headed ogre, and you can only guess that it's due to some part of you still being connected to the brilliant tactical mind of your creator. You're also quick to make good use of this glimpse of clarity, as you drive your opponents even further apart, and you can easily see how the mellow young cleric is struggling to keep up with your relentless advance.
It all happens so fast that you can barely understand it yourself as you make a quick feint to the dwarf on your right, and you watch the cleric drawing on her powers to slow the mighty swing of your club, while instead you step in to slam your fist into the chest of the armored knight to your left. Even as it feels like you're still moving through water you can tell how your attack connects with your intended target, and you send her sprawling into the nearest wall, with a resounding clatter of steel against the hard, obsidian rock.
"Melaine!" The cleric gasps as she sees her friend collapse in a heap against the wall, and loses her focus for just a moment while you follow up your attack with another sharp lunge to your right. Her lacking discipline proves to be fatal for another of the five companions, and the dwarf just barely has the chance to see it coming when you suddenly cave his skull in with the butt end of your hefty wooden club.
"Oh, gods...!" You see the poor woman stagger backwards in shock as she sees the bloody mess you've made of her friend's bearded face, though it seems like she's still got some passive spell up to protect the remaining members of her group, as you fail to land even a glancing blow on either one of the nimble fighters that still remain standing. It won't be enough to save them however, as the elf has failed again to hit your face with his last two arrows, and you easily break the shafts in half as they get stuck in the thick hide of your right arm and shoulder. The half-elf female seems to face a similar problem, as her long daggers won't do much harm to your natural armor, and you drive her backwards with a wide sweep of your club to keep her from reaching your eyeballs, or some other **** part of your body.
"We need to withdraw!" She calls out through gritted teeth, as she dances out of your reach once again, and you notice how her male companion has already grabbed the cleric by the arm and started pulling her with him the way they came from. There's still a long corridor for them to move through, but with the slowing barrier still in effect you find it difficult to chase them effectively without wearing yourself out completely.
They're leaving two of their numbers behind though, and you can see the look of regret on the cleric's face as she's glancing back towards her fallen friends, before she too starts running as fast as she can to reach the far end of the hallway...
What should you do then? Try to give chase, or stop and see what you've caught...?
