Chapter 9 by Syloren
Do you survive the blast?
You're...Not Quite Sure?
"..aim to her!" The sound of a deep, scratchy voice is the first thing you hear upon waking. Your eyes open slowly to something strange, something...alien. You're in some kind of cave but details are hard to make out - there's only a dull blood red light coming from somewhere that obscures details. The rock in the cave seems to be dug very roughly, as if some huge animal had dug through with its' bare hands.
"A weakling like you? Hah!" You shift to look at the source of the voices. Two hulking, masculine figures stand about thirty feet away from you, having a very animated argument. The two of them almost look like a pair of oversized, muscular gargoyles - with large bat like wings and spikes jutting from several points on their bodies.
"Then let combat decide who will claim the marked one!" One shouts and then lunges towards the other. The two become embroiled in their fight, slashing at each other with clawed hands and feet, destroying solid rock with their sheer strength. You don't know what they're talking about but you get the feeling you don't want to be around when their fight finishes.
You try to crawl away in the opposite direction of the fight but feel a sharp pain in your chest. You touch it with one hand and feel the sticky warmth of blood - there's some kind of injury on your chest. It doesn't seem to be too bad but if you strain yourself you might make it worse...
Can you escape?
