I tried to bite my tongue but couldn’t.

She’s right. I would obviously be humiliated, but my parents would see me as a victim if that happened. Penelope’s parents would not feel the same.

“You’re the only girl in school who rivals my wealth and, while it’s obviously incorrect, the only girl who popular opinion says exceeds me in beauty. You only have one weakness and I figured it out and intend to exploit it.”
