After hitting the snooze button a few times, you wake up to your alarm and quickly make for the shower, eager to get last night's mess cleaned off; thankfully, you'll be long gone by the time your mom finds the dirty sheets. Just as you've finished double checking your pack, the doorbell rings and your mother calls, "Red, Green's here. Are you ready to go?"

You feel a bit of a nervous clinch in your gut, but try to sound nonchalant as you respond, "Yeah, coming right down."

As you come down the stairs, you see Green standing in the entranceway. She's wearing a sleeveless teal top, red skirt, baggy teal socks, white sneakers, and a yellow shoulder bag, topped off with her favorite white hat. It isn't the most practical clothing for a journey, but it certainly had you blushing after what you saw earlier that morning.

"Oh, do I look that good, Red?" Green teases, grinning. You must be blushing.

"Yeah, right," you respond, hopefully convincingly. Not quite sure where to look when facing Green, you choose to take the lead and walk past her and out the door, calling back to your mother, "See you at the ceremony, Mom."

You hear Green say goodbye to your mother, then hurry to catch up. Walking alongside you, she asks, "So, have you chosen which pokémon you're going to pick?"

Glad to be back in comfortable territory, you consider your options. Because you are at the top of the program, you get to choose first. Your options were the fire-type charmander, the water-type squirtle, and the grass-type bulbasaur. You knew that Green wanted the bulbasaur and would be picking second, but also that she wouldn't have any hard feelings if you chose it. You'd put a lot of thought into it since you'd received the packet with the pokémon's profiles, and you were confident the pokémon that you had chosen was going to make a great partner for your journey.
