"We never did hear back from Cole about the complaints we filed about Brown," said Lilith.

"True," said Megan. "Let's look into it."

Maddie Cole was in charge of fielding complaints about professors, and the three witches had complained to her about Brown ten days ago but heard nothing back.

They went to Cole's office and found her sipping an espresso at her desk.

They knocked on the door jamb. "Hello?"

"Oh, ladies, come in."

The three went in and sat down. "We never heard back from you."

"Oh, well, I looked into it and found there was nothing to your complaints. No one backed you up."

"It was three against her," Said Megan.

"Yes, but you're best of friends, and Lianne, I mean Professor Brown says you cause trouble."

Lilith mumbled something.

"I didn't get that," said Cole.

"Tell us the truth."

"The truth is Lianne is my best friend, and I want to protect her," said Cole, against her will. "Um, I...it's..." she wanted to lie her way out of this situation but could not.

The girls exchanged smiles.
