Wishes from Ixtacotak 2/2

Lezeli. Lezeli floated at the surface of the water. She she had listened to the songs from the boat deep into the night. Indeed the music had only stopped shortly before the first light of dawn. She had followed many ships now. After that first she had sung with many and learned so many more. It constantly frustrated her that none of the songs sounded correct under water and none of the other mermaids were interested in trying to learn the songs of the surface dwellers. She watched the sky grow lighter as the day approached. She wished so badly to walk among the humans and learn more of their songs and maybe create songs of her own. As she thought this a light grew in the dawn sky. Looking at it her breath caught. A Dragonfall! She had a chance, if she wanted her impossible wish she had a chance now. If she was willing to pay the price. She made her choice and cast out her wish, in a flash of light she vanished.

Ojoxxotol.The massive saurian rested at the edge of the clearing. He was full from a good night's hunt and it had been long enough sense he had seen or smelled a dragon he was fairly sure he would not awaken in a fight for his life. The scars from his last battle had still not faded. He remembered the fight, he had been lucky the dragon had been overconfident and attacked alone rather than bring other dragons or it’s servants. He had seen so many of his kind brought low by the teamwork of the dragons. He wished that he was able to speak. That power was sadly denied his kind. If he could speak, he could at least gain the help of a human village or another great predator, so he did not need to face the dragons alone. Looking up he wished again for the power of speech and to be part of a group of apex predators. He was surprised when a portal snapped open and he suddenly knew that he needed to step through to gain his wish but that he would of friendship and loyalty to the one on the other side. He rose and stepped through the portal.

Nyxili. She sat at the edge of the volcano. Her mother had told her she should find a companion to help her continue to grow. Who could stand alongside the daughter of a goddess. Who’s power was the equal to hers that she could respect. She had said good by to her mother gust this night and was most definitely not pouting and feeling sorry for herself. She had been with her mother all her life and now she was looking to spend many times that alone. She watched the sky now, her mother had told her that she would sleep till the next Dragonfall. That meant that there would be a Dragonfall soon and maybe she could trade with the dragon for the power to join her mother in their dreams. That at least would allow her to ask her mother questions and share her adventures. As she watched she could feel the moment the Dragonfall began. She felt for the nature of the sole that would be become the next great dragon. There was a brief moment of dissonance then the nature of the soul was revealed. She blushed slightly at what would be the payment for her wish. It would not be to burdensome so she offered her wish and hoped it would be granted. When the portal opened she quickly checked the last gifts from her mother and then stepped through.

Yanya. She was watching the night fade into the morning. She had been told that there would be a special performance today. There had been a divination that there would be a Dragonfall. The sign of a new era beginning, the dragon lords had planed to have a special execution battle to celebrate. Her emotionless face was graced with tears. She was so tired of the pointless killing, she wanted it to end and one way or another it would. She now watched the morning sky. And then she saw it, a burning light. She cast out her wish and as the portal opened she went through as quickly as possible.
