Chapter 2

Only one question remained. Would he go for the bonus objective?
Well, he’ll try [JustABitOfWarpstone]
Well, with that kind of a call to action, how was John to refuse? He smiled, grabbing his uniform and marching off to the bathroom to complete his first quest AND bonus objective. After all, the quest was piss easy. Most of his mornings were spent jerking off thinking of the hotties he spent his school days with, and now he was being rewarded for it? Already magic powers were clearly the best thing ever and John was going to love every second of having them.
As he turned the water on and stepped in, a thought did occur to him. This first quest was all about getting ready for school. It had four objectives to the quest with the additional bonus objective, and all five together were worth 30xp in total. And with a quick check to his character sheet he was level 3 with 242 xp. Was that… all the XP he had gotten up to this point? 18 years of life and he had less than 250 XP?
Or was it one of those sheets where it resets every level? If it was that, then most games have increasing XP needs per level, so he was probably below 1400 XP in total. But that was assuming it was based on games like that. What if this was D&D styled where he just had that much. Was that good? Was that bad? Was he supposed to be level 5 by now or were most students level 2? How much was John wasting his life with when it came to leveling up?
“John, breakfast is ready!”
Oh fuck, he had been so distracted he didn’t even notice he had just been standing around and absent mindedly scrubbing for like 15 minutes. John quickly rinsed out his hair, shutting off the water and hopping out of the shower. ‘Sorry, bonus objective. No jerking off this morning,’ he thought to himself, grabbing a towel and drying off as quickly as he could. His character sheet still remained in his vision, floating just a foot or two away from him. Out of curiosity, John grabbed his phone and opened the camera app, setting it to selfie mode and planned on taking a photo of himself with the character sheet right next to him. But much to John’s suspicion, the display showed only John, no character sheet. It was clear to him that this thing was something only he could see.
The sheet, and the implications of it, intrigued him. After all, this sheet was a summation of all that John was. From how strong and smart he was to his sex drive and (lack of) charisma. He had an example of his entire existence all wrapped up in seven simple stats. He assumed the stats fed directly into his health and mana, but he couldn’t be sure until-
“John! I won’t call you for breakfast again!”
Oh crap! John quickly pulled his pants on and tossed his shirt on, not bothering to button it as he ran downstairs. “Sorry, Mom! Just got distracted.”
His mom shook her head and smiled. “It's okay, hun. I just got to go to work. Breakfast is on the table.”
John smiled at his mother, and walked over to the table. However, before sitting down, he wondered just what Observe would reveal about his dear mother. She was more than twice his age, so maybe she would give him a good baseline of what level he should be at this point. That was assuming the two of them were on similar levels of… grind? Leveling? John really wasn’t sure what to call it yet but who cares. There was Observing to be done!
-
Brenda Newman
Class: MILF, Fighter
Level: 12
-
What the fuck? Why was- Wait, the universe itself decreed his mom was classified as a MILF?! What the fuck, universe? That’s his mom! Don’t go perving on his mom! Sure, she aged incredibly well and kept herself fit and always had a smile and had curves that could-
Okay, now John was starting to perv on his own mother. He slapped his face, shaking the dirty thoughts away. He did not need to start an Oedipus complex. He had enough insecurities and issues as is.
More important than her apparent MILF-ness, she was level 12? That seemed pretty high for being 37 if he recalled correctly. He was only level 3. Was he expected to naturally jump up 9 levels over the next 19 years? Was college really going to do that much for him? Or did it have something to do with her second class in addition to MILF? His mom was a fighter? Like a D&D Fighter? With swords and shields? Or did she do something in her youth that earned her that title?
John shook his head. His Observe skill was just creating more questions than answers. He needed to focus on finishing his quest. Plus, he was hungry, and nothing started a day off right like chocolate chip pancakes.
As he began to dig in, John looked over to his character sheet again. He wondered what his mom’s stats would look like in comparison to his. Or even what the stats meant on a more technical level. Like how does one stat affect another aspect of him. What was the universe’s difference between wisdom and intelligence?
‘Well, I could see if tapping the sheet gives me any info.’
John looked to his mom, and while her back was turned, tapped the Strength stat. Just as he hypothesized, another window popped up with a slew of information.
Strength: A measure of a person’s physical power. This directly translates into being able to hit things harder, carry more items, lift heavier objects, and assert physical **** against opponents more effectively. Additionally, Strength directly affects HP Regeneration, giving an additional 0.005 points of Regeneration per point of Strength.
Agility: A measure of a person’s nimbleness, speed, and fine motor skills. Agile people are more able to dodge attacks as well as have acute control over their body, making them more stealthy and nimble. Additionally a high agility translates into more nimble movements of fingers and the like.
Endurance: A measure of a person’s physical fortitude. People with high endurance are able to sustain more damage in the long term, as well as take large amounts of damage at once without feeling ill effects. People with high endurance are also able to keep themselves sustained in physical activities for longer periods of time. Additionally, Endurance directly affects HP Total, giving an additional 5 points of HP per point of Endurance.
Intellect: A measure of a person’s analytical ability, memory, and reason. Highly intelligent people are more likely to recall random facts and trivia as well as learn new facts much more quickly than others. Additionally, highly intelligent people are often good at figuring out puzzles and conundrums, as well as solving mysteries and investigating. Intellect also directly affects MP total, giving 2 points of MP per point of Intellect.
Wisdom: A measure of practical intelligence, cleverness, and how perceptive a person is of the world around them. Wise people have better intuition and are able to make the right choice when the facts aren’t as clear. Wisdom also helps a person keep a cool head in times of crisis, allowing them to better exploit the weaknesses of their enemies. Wisdom also directly affects MP Regeneration, giving an additional 0.0075 Points of Regeneration per point of Wisdom
Charisma: A measure of a person’s charm, likability, and general comfort in dealing with others. Charismatic people are charming and natural leaders, able to sway entire armies with a few words or craft fear in the enemy’s hearts with a single look.
Libido: A measure of a person’s sex drive. People with high libidos are able to cum more often during sex, with a lower recharge time and more orgasms before they are spent.
Well, that was informative. Not only did he have a more substantial idea of what his stats were, but he also managed to get a few other key hints too.
First off all, the most obvious one was that his stats were directly feeding into his health and mana. If he could level up his Intellect and Endurance, his base line MP and HP would both improve. Meanwhile, improving his Strength would help him recover lost HP faster, and Wisdom would do the same for mana. But then there was the phrasing of the stats. Every description used “person” rather than just him as an example. This would imply that at some point he would be able to see the stats of other people, not just himself. Otherwise it would probably say something like “a measure of YOUR sex drive” or “a measure of THE GAMER’S charm.”
John pulled his phone out again, opening the calculator and running a few quick numbers while slowly eating his pancakes. Based on the formula given, and his own current HP total, he had a base HP of 30 and got a bonus 35 from his current Endurance. Which wasn’t… a lot but it was at least nice to know he managed to double his baseline HP. Though based on some of the Neanderthals at school and their ability to keep running beyond human comprehension, he would probably be served a slice of humble pie when he learned of their HP totals.
Oh well, that just meant he had room to grow. And now he had a direct goal to be able to move towards!

And apparently whoever gave out magic to him was also a bit snarky.
John dismissed the popup with a wave of his hand before turning back to his character sheet. Already he had four new stat points! Sure, he wouldn’t have time for the bonus objective at this point, but hey, this was well worth the trade!
While part of him wanted to play a bit balanced with his stats and maybe spread the love, that six in Endurance was annoying him. He knew he wasn’t that physically fit but a 6? He couldn’t even reach the coveted realm of having double digit Endurance?! And sure, Charisma was lower but he would have time to make himself pretty later down the line. If this world was going to be magical all of a sudden, he might need to run for his life or withstand the forces of hell invading or deal with Frank for a 5th time this week. No, no, Endurance was the way to go.
John put the points in, watching as his health increased to match his new HP max. Apparently, when he got a boost to max HP, his current HP increased along with it. Again, very nice. And in all the commotion of dealing with his new magic, John hadn’t even noticed he had cleared his plate. He got up, taking his plate to the kitchen before heading back into the living room, and finished putting on his school uniform. His mind was adrift in the sea of possibilities, wondering what new adventures awaited him at school. Maybe he would learn one of his teachers was a secret wizard, or one of his friends was part of some badass magic biker gang. Oooh, maybe he would fight some evil mages invading the school! That would be sick as fuck!
John grabbed his backpack, along with his keys and wallet, and stepped out of his house, saying a quick goodbye to his mom. The day was his to seize, and by god was John Newman not going to waste this opportunity! He had a second chance at life, to make himself better than he was yesterday! And damn it, he was ready to take it!
Aaaasss soon as the bus came to pick him up.
Then he would take it.
