Wanda's dream

"The city has fallen, my Queen," a young woman in white robes said, running towards Aezeth. "You must escape, our army is depleted and they will surely break through."

"No Calliope, I will not abandon my children."

"But Aezeth, please," Calliope begged as Aezeth smiled at her.

Wanda could see these events transpire around her, as if she were there. It was intense as her and Aezeth's minds were connected. What was strange was that Calliope looked very familiar, almost reminding her of her niece when she was young, but that was only the beginning.

"Calliope, you must take the path to the East. You must survive," Aezeth said to her, trying to get her to leave.

"I won't abandon you, Mother."

"You must, please," Aezeth begged, tears in her eyes and sadness in her voice. "You must live on, for me. My time is over, but one day, I shall return, and I need to know that my bloodline is safe." She took the young woman over to a mirror and stared at the reflection. "You see, my daughter, our bond is stronger than anything. And I want you to remember to good times. And remember how much I love you."

Wanda was in shock as she saw in the reflection, her own face. It was not her, but the face of Aezeth from centuries ago. The fact that she looked so much like her, and the young woman looked like her niece, began to make it clear what had happened.

Wanda awoke from her slumber, covered in sweat as she lay there in her bed. The moonlight shines through the windows. She rolled out of bed and walked over to the window to stare out the window at the river nearby.

"That's why you chose me," Wanda said breaking the silence.

"You are a descendant of my bloodline. Proof that my daughter Calliope lived on."

"But....... that wasn't you in someone else's body. That was just you."

"Yes, my human form. I lost it centuries ago."

"So, am I just........" she started to say before tears filled her eyes.

"My Child, you and I are the same. You are more like me than you ever realized. I do not wish to steal your life, because they are not separate. But we need to complete the merger."

"So, I lose myself so you can return?"

"No, you will become me, and I you. You will remember everything you have ever done, every feeling you have ever felt. But you will remember mine as well. You are not just my bloodline, you are me reincarnated."

"What?" She asked, shocked by this revelation.

"That's why I went to Ted, because I needed his energy to bond with you."

"That...... can't be, can it?" She said to herself as she started to think about it. "But we are so different. Wait, what happened to Calliope's father?" She asked, feeling the pain in Aezeth at the question.

"When the city was seized, he ran, abandoning me and Colliape."

"Who would do that? Who would abandon their family like that?" Wanda said, anger in her voice.

"That is why I never cared about love, but....... seeing Dawn and Leon, Claire and Henry, and remembering how much you loved Charles."

"Leon looks so much like him. When we had sex, I felt like I was with him again."

"I know. I can't bring him back. I know that's what you are thinking."

"I know you can't, but I can't remain in love with a ghost either. Perhaps this is my path now," she said as she stood at the window staring at the full moon. "Will I still feel this pain, when we merge?"

"I'm afraid so, though it may not be as bad. Don't think of it as losing yourself, think of it as becoming whole again."

"Ever since we joined together, I have felt this connection to you. My heart tells me this is the right way. But Leon, he can't lose the only family he has."

"He won't. You will still be there for him, and love him. We both will, I promise you."

"But I need to tell him, before we do it. I need to make him understand, and be there for him one more time, just in case."

"I understand. When you do, I will remain dormant so you can have your moment with him."

"Thank you. Very well, let's do it."

"It's not that simple. We need help."

"What kind of help?" She asked.
