Walk the Carter Trail

Spencer woke up next to Dani, who said "Morning," with an adoring smile.

"Morning."

"You wanna do something today?"

"What did you have in mind?"

"You know Carter Trail is beautiful this time of year?"

"It's also cold."

"That just means layering up."

"I'll have to go to my place so I can do that."

"You're fine with that."

"Suppose I better get dressed?"

"Unfortunately." Dani kissed him on the forehead, before he headed downstairs to the aftermath of last night's sex. After putting on his clothes, including his now ruined shirt, he waited for Danielle to descend the stairs, who did so fully dressed, including a snug looking turtle neck that hid her lovebite. "How about some breakfast?"

"Sounds great."

After a hearty soup, the two headed to Spencer's SUV. The cold chilled Spencer, who grew more envious of his girlfriend and her toasty turtleneck. With the bags in the car, the two got in the car, where Spencer turned the air conditioner onto it's hottest setting.

"A little chilly?" Dani teased.

"Somewhat."

"Not much of a snow person?"

"I am when I'm layered up."

Back home, Spencer rushed to his bedroom, where he got dressed in warmer clothing. Once he was finally layered up, Spencer took Dani to the snow-covered trail. As they walk, Dani said "I wonder if we'll see any animals like last time?"

"Doubt it. They're probably getting somewhere warm."

Danielle laughed. "Watching the silly humans freeze?"

"Yeah."

"Speaking about that, I was thinking about Amy's Christmas."

"Yeah?"

"I'm thinking of getting that picture of the deer she took printed?"

"That'd be perfect."

"Really?"

"Yeah, she'll love that."

The two walked a bit more, before Danielle made a confession"You know, I haven't been this excited for Christmas in a decade."

Spencer stammered as he looked at his girlfriend, not sure how to reply. "Really?"

"Well, after my breakup, yeah. I mean, I'm going to wake up to my loving partner, and his daughter... it's just... I haven't thought this kind of thing would happen." Tears well in Danielle's eyes, which she wipes away.

"I'm looking forward to it too." Spencer patted her on the back.

"Was Amy ever into the whole Santa thing?"

"Not for long. When she was five she woke up in the middle of the night and caught us with Santa's presents, as I ate one of the cookie's she'd baked."

"Ohh... did she take it well?"

"Not at all. She was balling her eyes out."

"Awwww..."

"At least she didn't catch us a few minutes later."

He managed to squeeze in a wink before Danielle gave him a light slap on the shoulder. "So you've always been so damn insatiable?"

"More so actually."

"I could just imagine that though. Having a child so excited on the day..."

Spencer pushed Dani against a nearby tree, with devious glee written all over his face. "I can help with that."

After he smooched her on the lips, Dani sanh "But baby it's cold outside."

Spencer snickered for a second, before saying "Well, the car's nearby?"

Dani's jaw dropped "No way Mister."

"What? It's got air con. Comfy seats..."

Her finger ran up and down his chest. "Hmm, how about we keep walking, and maybe after lunch we can warm each other up?"

"That'll work."

Danielle stepped back onto the trail. "C'mon. Maybe we'll see an animal around if we're lucky."

"Well there's a snake in my pants."

"He might freeze off if he braves the cold though. We wouldn't want that?"

"Guess not."

"C'mon Spence."

Spencer followed his girlfriend and like her, got lost in the calm serenity of the trail for awhile, until the wind picked up. That caused them to regret walking so far all the way back to the car.
