Interlude

Vivian's story

-Midnight that night, Vivian's POV-

Lucas was able to fall asleep after this long day. I know one of my Master's greatest strengths is his big heart. He is always willing to help those in need. However, this is also his biggest weakness because it can prevent him from caring for himself, like getting the proper amount of sleep, and his worrying can affect those around him.

"Looks like Master is finally asleep," Cinder said.

"About time too. I was afraid he would keep us up all night long," said the Nidoran (M) that has joined our party.

"Hey don't be rough on him. He's just worried about Riolu," I scolded him.

"I just don't understand why he would care about this random Pokémon like that," he replied.

"Yeah, I'm going to be honest, Viv, but I don't get either," Sage said.

"Yeah, Sage and I have only known him for the past few days, but it sounds like you have known him for a lot longer than that," Cinder said.

"That's right. I've known Master for almost a year now, but I'm glad I did meet him," I said.

-One Year Earlier-

I meet him on a night just like this. It was a dark and stormy night just like tonight. I struggled to move around because I hurt my paw and my head. I wasn't sure how it happened. As I limped through the forest, unsure of where I was or if anyone or any hostile Pokémon was around that would attack, I started to lose hope in my situation. I wasn't sure of the distance I walked, but eventually, I leaned against a tree and started to faint. The last thing I saw was a bright light coming closer to me, then darkness. When I woke up, I was in Master's house sleeping in a bed and feeling much better. I tried to move, but I stopped and yelped in pain when I tried to put weight on it.

"Woah, easy there, girl," my future Master appeared before me, "I'm glad you are awake now, but you need to keep off that paw of yours for a few weeks to heal it properly. It is also a good thing I found when I did. Those injuries looked pretty bad, but with a few potions, your injuries have healed up nicely." He got up but returned shortly after, "I'm not sure if you are hungry, but I cut up this Oran berry for you. It will make it easier for you to eat it." And that's how I met my Master.

"After that, I enjoyed living with my Master and his mother before I joined him a few days ago to go on his journey with him," I explained. Cinder nodded in understanding, Nidoran looked bored, but Sage was looking at me with a smug look. "What's up with the look, Sage?"

"Oh come on, Viv. It's so obvious about your feeling for Master," Sage said.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"You like him," she said.

"Of course I like him. He saved my life and gave me a home," I explained.

"That's not what I mean. You like like him. I bet that he was a Pokémon like us, you would let him mate with you," she said. My face grew bright red.

"W-what are you talking about? That's not-," I stammered through my words.

"Oh please. I may have just joined your team today so I still have wild instincts. So I can tell when a female is ready to mate, and when Sage mentioned him mating with you I can tell you want that to happen," Nidoran said. I just wanted to disappear right now while Cinder was rubbing my back.

"It's okay. After a story like that and living like a queen because of him, I wouldn't blame you for falling in love with Master," Cinder said.

"Yeah, but there is no way Master would ever mate with a Pokémon like me," I said as a tear left my eye.

"Maybe you can make a wish about it?" Cinder said. I turned to look at her, "If you wish hard enough, maybe your wish will come true."

"No way. There's no way a wishes like that will ever come true," Nidoran said.

"Thanks, Nidoran, you are so helpful right now," Cinder said sarcastically, "Ignore him, Viv. Maybe that wish of yours will come true, or maybe it won't but isn't just being with him enough?"

"I, I don't know," I said.

"I guess that is something you need to think about, but for now, I think I'm going to head back to my ball I'll see you in the morning," Sage said heading back into her ball.

"Yeah, we had a long day of training, I'm going to head to bed as well," Cinder replied. Nidoran didn't say anything to us and just returned to his ball. I chose to stay out for a while longer. I jumped up next to Master and curled up next to him.

"Master, I don't know if I could be your love, but even if I can't I'll always be there for you," I said falling asleep shortly after.

The Next Morning
