“Oh, goody!” Heather exclaims. “So, here’s what we’re going to do. Vicky, Chloe and Gavin will write their names on these slips of paper and then Kurt, Zack and I will pick one of them from the bowl. Ok?”

Zack nods with his stomach doing somersaults as names were written and put in the hat that Heather brought. He was relieved that he couldn’t draw Kurt, actually any of the available options would be fine, be it one of his two best friends or his crush.

Heather then shakes the hat and reaches inside it to pick up a name. She unfolds it and reads.

“Gavin, my friend!” She announces. “Looks like you’re with me.”

Zack couldn’t decipher if Heather was truly happy with her draw or was just faking. Gavin on the other hand looked like Christmas had come earlier.

”Weird, he never told me that he felt something for Heather.” He thinks.

He then notices that Kurt had just stuck his hand into the hat. He pulls up a paper and unfolds it. “Hmm, Chloe.” He says, and the lecherous way that he looks at Chloe rings all sorts of alarms and bells inside Zack’s head. He’s suddenly very worried for his best friend’s wellbeing with that douchebag in the same room as her.

Chloe sighs, resigned. “Well, I agreed to play.”

Zack’s concern for Chloe made him overlook the fact that Victoria was the only one left for him, which Heather was quick to point out.

“That leaves Zack and Victoria.” She says. “So, let’s go to our rooms to unpack and then we meet up here later, ok guys?”

Zack freezes, looking at Victoria in wonder, he couldn’t believe his luck. Victoria had an accepting expression on her perfect face.

“So, wanna go see our room?” She asks with a smile.

Zack nods and returns her smile, pulling himself together. They get their bags and go to the only door still closed, right in front of the one Chloe and Kurt were busy unpacking. Zack opens it.
