Url, of Oblivion

When I hear the name Url, I get worried for Amelia. I saw him fight last night and this guy … he may very well be a contender for becoming the B-rank champion. He is a warrior, similar to Dante, except he has a couple more years of experience. I see him walking into the arena with a full set of plate armor, a large shield and a twohanded sword, although he is holding it in one hand. I’m sure his rank gives him the necessary strength upgrade to be able to do that. Though I am certain he also did a lot of strength training to get there.

I watch both of them take their positions and then the match starts. Url begins by walking towards Amelia. She uses her [Paralysis] skill on him. Url’s body becomes stiff and he tips over, but he doesn’t fall. He leans towards where he is holding his shield, then the tip of that shield Keeps him balanced. With his two feet and shield on the ground, he is prevented from falling. He is still unable to move though, and his opponent makes use of that.

Amelia casts her [Ball of Light] spell once, twice, trice. She keeps on assaulting the tall armored warrior, but her blows just don’t make it past his armor. When her [Paralysis] skill wears off and Url starts walking again, Amelia raises her staff and casts her [Ray of Light] spell. Url raises his shield and takes the blast. I was hoping Amelia could at least heat up his shield enough that he would have to drop it, but when she ends her spell Url is still holding on and walking closer. I can see her panicking now.

Amelia next uses her [Energy Drain]. It is a skill with which she can draw physical energy out of her opponent. It has enough of an effect on Url to get him to bend the knee. Amelia then comes in close and whacks him with her staff. Url instead uses his [Shield Smash] skill and bitch slaps Amelia with his shield. It is powerful enough to send Amelia off the ground for a moment. Url gets back up and continues his march towards Amelia while she remains crying on the arena floor.

“Yield!” I hear Amelia cry. Then the gong goes off and Amelia is out.

Url stops his approach to Amelia and exits the arena. I’m going to have to find a way to get past his armor if I face him. Amelia slowly gets up and has someone from the Knights Hospitaler check out her face. Then she walks back to me. By the time she reaches me, she is still sniffling.

“I’m sorry.” Amelia apologizes.

“You don’t need to be sorry.” I say. “That guy had way too much armor. You never had a chance with those skills.”

“You know, I could have won if I used [Pacify]. It’s a protection spell and causes people to not want to fight any more. It’s just, they banned that spell. So if I used it, I would have been disqualified.” Amelia explained.

“Disqualified?” I ask. “Why would they do that?”

“Think about it.” Amelia suggests. If clerics are permitted to use [Pacify] in 1 on 1 duels, it would always be the first spell cast and would always result in the cleric winning.”

Yeah, I guess that wouldn’t be fair. I look at the next contestants getting ready for a duel. I would like to see, but I feel Amelia would not want to stay after her loss.

“Are you fine if we stick around a bit longer, or would you prefer to leave.” I ask.

Amelia holds my hand and says, “I would prefer to go if that’s alright with you. Why not go to the Pleasant Owl? I’m sure Oliver would appreciate us paying him a visit.”

Ah, the two of us and Oliver again. Like old times. I join Amelia out of here and we head towards the Pleasant Owl.

As Amelia and I are leaving, we see Kiara arriving. One of her former students in the A rank division asked her to watch her duel, hence why she was over there. She promised to come over here and watch my duel as soon as she could, but my duel was too early for that to happen.

“Am I too late?” Kiara asks.

“Yeah, Amelia and I both had our duels. We are heading to the pleasant owl now.” I tell her.

Kiara studies our faces, then says, “Not to drown your misery, I hope.”

I laugh and explain that I won, but Amelia lost. As I start talking about my duel we continue towards the inn.

The three of us talk all the way there and even when we have already gotten our seats at the pleasant owl. We tell Kiara about the fight with Zachary, the fight with Url, and also that weird woman accusing me of cheating.

“Odd, as a member of Oblivion, she should have known there are penalties against face accusations.” Kiara ponders. After a short pause she asks, “Did the judges by any chance say what the runes you used were?”

“Well, they already recognized the rune I used as the migraine rune. So I don’t think the judge revealing anything when he confirmed the migraine rune having lost its charge but not the 2 others.” I explain.

Kiara snaps her fingers and says, “That’s it. The migraine rune and two others. Everybody now expects your limit to be 3 runes.”

I can’t believe it. That false accusation was purely to figure out how many runes I can use?

“It looks to me like Oblivion is trying to play dirty.” Kiara says. “How about we do some dirty play of our own.”

The hooded blonde then leans over, making me imagine her squinting her eyes and says, “Amelia, I need you to tell me everything you can about Url and his …”

“Darx? Is that you?” Someone suddenly interrupts us.
