Upgrades Again

You don't finish all the breeders.

Leraje is stretched out in a corner, out cold. Redhoof is caring for her. You don't feel like taking more mana from them would be wise right now. The breeders have their own mana, but they're going to need that for their side of the pregnancy. The mushrooms don't have enough mana to be worth absorbing. You go slower and slower as your mana runs low, and finally you call it quits with 31 done according to your quest tracker. You curl up in a corner of the cavern and take a rest.

It was a good day, you tell yourself. Met some new people, learned about the war situation, helped with the defense, had a whole fuckton of sex, and now you've got enough experience to level all your stuff again.

You absolutely would not have fucked Leraje that way if you'd known. That girl needed care and tenderness and affection, not a two-foot-thick shaft pounding into her polymorphed body. Now she's out cold, and you have no idea what's going to happen if the Light Army attacks while she's down. Would Redhoof be able to defend the fortress? She's level 78 now, but you're not sure if a "Seer" can do much in the way of combat. And what's Citrinas doing in that dungeon?

Questions swirl uselessly in your head, and then, mercifully, you fall asleep.

A choice screen hovers in your vision. MONSTER EVOLUTION, it says. Choose an upgrade for: Multislime.

Antimagic Multislime. Ignore all magic that costs less than your mana reserve.
Big Multislime. You like slime? This is slime, but more. So much more.
Multislime Mage. Improved magic power and mana reserves. Find a mana node and start absorbing!
Multislime Supreme. 20x stats per level. 20x experience cost per level.
Kiloslime. You can be up to a thousand slimes at once. Mana cost is reduced.
Slime Agent. You can collect all your slime into a single humanoid body, which passes as the species of your choice unless inspected very closely.

Several of these are tempting, but Citrinas is coming soon, and that has to be your priority. You have a plan, and that plan involves antimagic. You choose Antimagic Multislime and leave the rest for later.

The next page is for Ranger, and it's already blinking an error message.

ERROR: Terrain Lore Not Specified. Choose Plains, Forests, Mountains, or specify other terrain.

Oh, that's right. Ranger was supposed to have a land as well as an enemy, wasn't it? The land bonus was just physical attack and speed, and if you get in a serious fight you've been assuming it'll all be over, so you ignored it.

Fine. You're in a mountain right now, right? You choose Mountains. Done.

The page changes to: Choose an upgrade for Social Ranger (T3):

Social Agile Ranger (T4): Gain a 200% boost to climb speed and move speed while in Mountains.
Social Assassin Ranger (T4): Gain a 200% boost to stealth checks and critical damage while in Mountains.
Social Combat Ranger (T4): Gain a 300% boost to physical attacks and attack speed while in Mountains.
Social Mage Ranger (T4): Gain a 200% boost to mana pool and mana regeneration while in Mountains.
Social Priest Ranger (T4): Gain a 200% boost to non-damaging spell power while in Mountains.
Social Sorcerer Ranger (T4): Gain a 200% boost to spell damage while in Mountains.
Social All-Terrain Ranger (T4): Choose two more terrains to gain your bonuses from Favored Land.

Your antimagic power scales with your mana pool, and you're going to need that very soon, so you choose the mana pool boost and move on.

You make a note to ask the goddesses about class names the next time you see them. These don't seem very good.

Your priest class upgrades look much more normal than last time.

Boring Priest Upgrade (T3): Doesn't do anything useful. Nothing to see here, move along. Note: This class upgrade cannot be deleted once offered.
Priest of Dark (T3): 100% boost to darkness and damage spells, drawing on the dark power of the Goddesses. Gain access to the Darkbolt and Darkstorm spell lines.
Priest of Fertility (T3) (rare): 100% boost to pregnancy and gestation rate. 90% discount to mana cost to regenerate spent semen. Gain access to the Accelerate Pregnancy spell line.
Priest of Light (T3): 100% boost to healing and protection spells, drawing on your own Light Essence nature. Gain access to the True Restoration spell line.
Priest of Lust (T3): 500% boost to aphrodisiac spells and abilities. Gain access to the Mindbreak spell line.
Priest of Support (T3): 100% boost to buff spells. Gain access to the Heroic Surge spell line.
Priest of Weakening (T3): 100% boost to debuff spells. Gain access the Debuff Resistance spell lines.

This isn't what you wanted. Another mana boost would have been nice. Or Distiller of Love, the power you skipped last time that reduces aphrodisiac resistance. The best you've got for that is Priest of Weakening, which seems... weaker.

Priest of Light seems possibly useful here in the Darklands, because hardly anyone seems to have healing magic. You tell yourself you wouldn't just be taking it to fix whatever's wrong with Leraje. Priest of Support could also be useful, if there's a buff spell to improve your mana pool size.

Feeling like a fool, you choose Priest of Light.

The upgrade screen doesn't close. Instead, it lights up, bright yellow, and some sort of angel guy steps out of it. He's got beautiful white wings, green hair, and a strange shirt-thing that looks like it's trying to show off his cleavage. Seems like an odd fashion choice, because you're pretty sure he's a dude.

"Thank the Light that I've found you!" he declares. "I'm so sorry I couldn't reach you earlier. I did try, but that dreadful dark goddess was doing unspeakable things to you, and I simply couldn't watch! I'm Ariel, God of the Light, and I'm here to make it all better..."

You listen to his offer, trying not to feel insulted. Does he really think it was Carnachias **** you, back there in the isekai chamber? It's... not an unreasonable conclusion, you suppose, given your power levels, but was he not watching at all?

There are quite a lot of choices here. Most of them are sort of boring, but one of them catches your eye:

Pure Land: Transform the place you spawn into a wellspring of mana, and attune you to it. Your stats will be boosted by 700% while you are there.

It's perfect! You spawned in that cavern under Northhold! You've never left, not even for a second -- one of your slime-bodies has always been there! This is your mana node solution, and also a permanent stat boost? Yes yes yes!

You lock in some choices and close the window, half-wondering what mad upgrades will pop up next.

Oaths Gained: Respect Sacred Ground, Love Humanity.
Blessings Gained: Domain, Immaculate Conception, Warmth, God's Eye.
Miracles Gained: Pure Land, Ariel's Alma.

No more upgrades appear. The window closes, and you sleep.
