Chapter 6 by Emptyplanet Emptyplanet

What's next?

University Hero

After a while of resting, you had woken up to a clean bill of health and were discharged from the Nurses office - Stacy was waiting outside to greet you which she did with a tearful hug. Trying to lighten the tone a little bit, you had made her laugh about the speedo's that you still wore beneath the towel you had draped around yourself. Making your way back to the pool you saw Nova continuing to do her laps in the pool, you had involuntarily froze at the sight of her. Suddenly memories of the both of you wrestling under the water flooded back into you, you began to sweat just remembering how you had choked for air whilst she smirked at you, forehead to forehead directly staring into your eyes as they dimmed.

"What's wrong babe? Oh don't tell me you're scared of the water?" Stacy rubbed your arm reassuringly, looking up at you with a concerned look on her face. "It's ok, the coach said you don't have to swim for a few months while you receive therapy for the incident. Come on lets not stick around for too long, we need to get you home." Pulling you towards the changing rooms you **** yourself to peel your eyes off of Nova who was doing lines without a care in the world, and without any notion that the man she had just drowned had been watching her. You could feel hatred as well as fear well up within you; how could she have done this to you? What kind of sick, twisted freak purposefully drowns a man only to then resuscitate them?

Was it too late to report the incident? Would anyone believe you even if you did? What would your girlfriend say; if she found out about your 'skinship' in both the bathroom & in the pool? If you were to allege what she did, then what would she counter with? Just like before when she had flipped the script on you; who is to say that it wouldn't happen again? No, you realized you had to keep it quiet. Yes, if you just put up with it then maybe all of this will eventually go away...

Walking into the changing stalls your girlfriend gave you some privacy as you changed back into your shirt and jeans, tossing the offending speedos that had left indentation marks on your skin for how tight they had been and returning them to their respective drawer.

Walking out you braced yourself to see her again, but sighed in relief when you noticed that she was no longer in the pool and nowhere else to be seen. Instead the old coach approached you, still with his clipboard in hand.

"Alex, how are you feeling?" The old man asked.

"Could be better." You responded dryly.

"Yes, well I imagine drowning isn't a pleasant experience; but what is important is that you're still with us." The old man made an attempt at a **** smile but gave up midway through. "Anyway, it's University policy to send you off for a course in therapy for people in your situation, so you'll be seeing Miss Satō until you're deemed well enough to resume the course. Naturally you may have the rest of today off, you appointment with her starts tomorrow at 9:30 AM. Any questions?" Looking at him with tired eyes you simply shook your head, who knows maybe the therapy would do you some good? And besides, a break from Nova sounded like a much needed reprieve.

"What about me coach? Can I go with him? I don't want to leave him alone." Your girlfriend chimed in with hopeful eyes.

"Sorry Miss Bridgeworth, but as per your contract you must continue going to class." Hearing this Stacy's look deflated, whilst you yourself had the sudden sickening realization that you would be leaving your girlfriend alone with Nova while you received therapy! You couldn't allow that fucking freak of a woman anywhere near your Stacy unattended!

"Hey coach, can I wave the therapy? I'm fine just continuing where we left off from." You tried to reason; however the old man simply shook his head.

"University policy kid, and it's in your contract. You really ought to read those before you sign em' you know? Tomorrow, 9:30. Don't leave Miss Satō waiting." And with that he walked away, dotting some boxes on his clipboard as he went. Thinking this day couldn't get any worse, you felt a strong yet sickeningly familiar hand rest on your shoulder.

"Here he is! How are you feeling lil bro? You really scared both of us when I had to carry you up to the surface you know?" Turning around you came face to tits with Nova who was smiling cheerfully down at you. You could feel your stomach turning the bile around inside but kept your cool even as beads of sweat rose to the surface.

"Y-yeah I'm fine, t-thanks." Was all you could manage to say. Beaming at you brightly she hit your arm playfully with a laugh.

"It ain't nothing man, I'm just glad you're ok."

"Really, thank you so much Nova, if you ever need anything don't be a stranger ok? We really owe you one." Your girlfriend said sincerely. You thought you saw a flash across Nova's face for a moment there, but the moment it came - it had washed from her entirely the next. Then the hulking African woman turned to look back to you again.

"Hey, are you sure you're feeling better Alex? You're starting to sweat a little." She held her palm up to your forehead to check your temperature. "You're looking a little flushed man, maybe you need to lay down in the nurses office again? Don't worry, I can keep your girl company in the meantime~" She said that last part with a little sing song voice that sent shivers down your spine.

"NO!" You shouted perhaps a little too forcefully loud. "I mean, no thanks I can make it back home. Both me and Stacy have the rest of the day off; so we'll be seeing you Nova. Th-thanks once again for saving me." And with that you began to lead your girlfriend by the arm out of the room, herself sparing one final wave to Nova before you both exited the room.

"Hey what's wrong Alex? You were being a little rude to Nova back there by leaving so suddenly." She asked with a concerned look. "Was it being so close to the water? Sorry I didn't think of that, I bet being so close to it after you just drowned is probably making you feel really uncomfortable." She concluded; however there was no way you could tell her the truth. Not now, not after so much time had already passed, and never mind how Nova will recount what 'actually' happened. No, nobody could know. Maybe this therapy was well needed after all? Yes, you could tell this 'Miss Satō' all about Nova and see if you couldn't reach any breakthroughs that could help.

"Yeah, sorry about that sweetheart. It was just being in that room was... suffocating, you could say." You half lied.

"That's ok baby, we can spend the rest of the day cuddling if it makes you feel better?" She tried cheering you up with a bright smile as she hugged your arm to her plentiful chest. Smiling back at her, the both of you walked the rest of the way home to climb into bed together. Feeling relaxed that you were back home now in the arms of the woman you loved - you felt like tomorrow might not be so bad after all. You still held the niggling thoughts that Nova could do something untoward to Stacy in your absence; but you figured that you were her lone target for harassment since so far Nova had treated Stacy with nothing but kindness and civility. Maybe Nova just hated men? At any rate, you trusted your girlfriend to tell you if anything happened, and that you would lay all your cards on the table if Nova were to ever harm her the way she had harmed you.

Drifting off to sleep cradling your soft and sweet girlfriend in your arms; the sandman was soon to arrive leaving you with nothing but the sweetest of dreams.
