Chapter 9 by amon_Baal amon_Baal

Does Beth find out?

Unfortunately

Beth ceased her ritual of light, the wolm might be blind but whatever shredded their clothes wasn’t. She walked quieted down the corridor guided by the glow of the heavily fed wolm hanging from her fellow attendant’s bodies. It was maybe another five minutes when she heard it, a faint, rhythmic tapping, this was immediately followed by a voice in the distance that she couldn’t quite make out.

Her heart raced as she realised there was someone else here and she almost called out, except the wolm. Instead she sped her steps as she tried to catch up to the voice, she heard it louder the second time, the voice was calm as it said, “I can hear someone.” It was soft and too calm for this situation, she hesitated. “Don’t worry, you can come closer.” The voice said.

Beth felt off in the stomach, as two glowing red eyes flared into life about thirty steps away they were as high as he shoulders and to begin with she thought that she was facing a short creature. How she would wish she was right. The flaring eyes were accompanied by a deep growl and with it a purple glow grew across it’s sides, veins of magic running its length. It was a demon dog, viciously intelligent hound from across the planes, it’s head was held low, as it started to glow.

The horse sized beast stepped closer before turning its head to the side and grabbing a wolm, engorged with magic from the breast of a nearby woman. It pulled on the wolm, which in turn pulled the woman’s breast. The demon dog pulled harder and the little creature released its grip, the woman’s breast bounced obscenely as the dog casually munched on the small parasite, it’s purple glow giving an eerie light to the inside of the dog’s mouth. “I’m afraid you are late.” The dog said through a mouthful of food. “I already have all the fruit I need for my garden.”

Beth backed up a couple of steps, many demon dogs knew magic, and she had no idea how the issues with the Nexus might, or might not, effect it. “So what on earth am I to do with you?” The dog asked menacingly. “I could string you up like these others, move some wolm to you, but I have more than enough.” He cocked his head to the side as if thinking, “I have all these wolm to eat so I don’t need food.” He stepped closer again as Beth stepped back, “But obviously I cannot let you go, or you will bring others, and I am not ready for that.”

Beth held out her wand and the demon barked in laughter, “Please, the Nexus is broken, what are you going to do, cast a binding ritual on me with no components and now ritual circle? If you think that will even slow me down you are sorely mistaken.” It licked its lips, “I will give you a choice. I bore easily so you will entertain me, one way or another.”

Beth was considering her options, maybe she could throw the book out as a distraction, the tentacle creature would sure give the dog a run for it’s money, but it would put all the other students at risk, and that was only if it opened to the right section. “You can run from me and if you do I will chase, obviously I will catch you but it would be good sport before a break your neck.” It left that to sink in for a few moments, “Or,” It stretched out the sound, “you can stay with me.” Beth blinked, “I will take you as my bitch. You can eat the wolm with me and grow strong as you bare my pups.”

Not much of a choice.
