Under the fancy table

Since the tablecloth reaches all the way to the ground, you could hide under there and be completely unseen! And there’s no reason Elaine would check under there because that’s where people put their feet. Why would she look for you there? You’re not feet! …Okay, that reasoning might be a bit of a stretch. But it looks like a good spot, so you’ll take it.

You crawl beneath the table and start to curl up in a ball, but stop abruptly when you bump into one of the table’s legs and hear various decorations start to tilt back on forth on the tabletop above. Oh no, if any of those fall…!

Thankfully, everything remains upright. Or at least, it sounds like it. You aren’t about to risk it again, so you remain on all fours while waiting for your imminent victory. Apparently, this room isn’t really on Elaine’s radar, as it takes her a few minutes to even enter. But when she does, her next actions are somewhat unkind…

She walks right up to the table, pulls a chair far back, sits on it, and stretches her legs out to rest her feet on your back. “Ahhhh, hide-and-seek can be so exhausting sometimes. It’s nice to simply relax my feet after all the walking around.”

“I’m not a footrest, you know,” you object.

“Oh my! What was that? Did I just hear the sound of my dear Chloe? Wherever could that be coming from? I don’t see her anywhere.”

“I’m right here, damn it! Get your dirty stinkin’ old lady feet off of me!” you roar.

“ ‘Old lady’ did you say?” Whoops. “Well, the elderly do deserve quite a bit of relaxation for their old, tired bones. And I’m sure a spry young lady such as yourself will have no problem holding that position for the foreseeable future. So please, get comfortable, sharp-tongued lover of mine, so that I might rest my feet thoroughly.”

“Will you at least keep the timer running for this?”

“Absolutely not.”
