Will we be following me, or someone like me?
--Tutorial; Build Creation --
Hello new Contractor. I see you're interested in working with us, writing a story, or just..., navigating around the catalog. Well first let's make sure we know what you're working with. There's roughly two Catalogs to work with.
https://official-waifu-catalog.neocities.org/ and https://waifu-catalog.neocities.org/
This writer isn't sure the differences between the two though the official one has more up to date rules, but the other one has different missions and challenges. The current standing between the two escapes this Writer currently. Still, you want to know how to use the Catalog in the first place right? Both roughly have the same process. However, for transparency this explanation will be using the Official one, and if there's a rule conflict, this writer will be deferring to the Official one.
So, let's begin. This will explain how to get a build or 'character' set up using the Catalog. A TLDR summery will be down at the bottom.
Note; If something is rather important it will be underlined.
Step 1) Intensity
This is your 'difficulty' and is rather important so we shall start here. It should be easy to see on the top of the Catalog screen, next to World and Origin. By taking these Options during Negotiation (aka making your character/build), you will have an easier or harder time. This can be such things as making it harder to move about the multiverse, limiting what powers you can buy or how strong they are, making things more dangerous, or even taking out a loan from us (at a good rate of course). Whatever your Intensity is, will more than likely raise or lower how much Credit you start your journey with depending on your Intensity level (higher = less Credit).
So why take it? Why not just lower it to 0 or even into the negatives? Well, that's just it, if you make it harder on yourself, we shall reward your efforts. After all we like to see someone take on the world and win, or crash and burn. We'll get something out of seeing you fly anyway.
The point is; The Higher your Intensity is, the more Credits per Capture or Sell of a Target. Of course, this can change if you change the Payment method.

Here's a handy little image of how that looks at base Intensity.
Step 2) Your Starting Budget
Next, we need to see how much Budget you have. Credits are used as currency for the Catalog (Psst, trying to exchange material wealth like gold or gems won't work to get more Credits). There's two ways to go about getting your Budget. Option 1) Our gracious Recruiter Jerynboe has set up a couple pre-paid packages for you to select. Just pick one and you're good to go. Skip to the next section. However perhaps you want a little more Credit to your name.
Option 2) We go by the Catalog's normal method. World Budget Modified by Intensity.
Either way, you'll have to pick a World. This is where you will START your journey. Head over to the worlds tab. It will have a lot of different panels for you but don't fear; we have a few ways of organizing them or filtering them. From A-Z, Rating/Danger level, targets in the word. We even have a search bar for you. To keep this somewhat simple, we'll use My Hero Academia as our example.

There are a couple things to note about worlds. To get out of the way; Targets are how many people/characters/subjects of note (aka desirable targets) are in a world/setting and is a rough number. We take pride in our records, but we can be wrong. Budget is how much we shall pay you for starting in that world. So, in the example, starting in My Hero Academia shall pay out 225 credits.
That's 225 at [No Condition]. Basically, nothing going on. Random day of the week/month/year. Each world has a list of Conditions you can find yourself in, which are usually time periods you can find yourself in that setting. For example, My Hero Academia features Pre/Post story, All Might's Retirement, the War Arc and even the Dark Age of Quirks.
Selection the Condition will pay more or less based on the DR or Danger Rating. It's easier to survive in say Pokemon, than Diablo thus you will be compensated for starting or going to dangerous worlds or time periods of that world. Post Story MHA is a much safer place than trying to visit during The War after all.
It's also important to note a world might have Setting Specific Rules - such rules end up modifying characters from said world, the powers from it, or just how it effects yourself and your retinue. Some tend to be in place to make things easier, less awkward or define how something that works in one setting could work in another. In the current example, Hagakure Tooru/Invisible Girl can turn her invisibility on and off at will. Given their scope it's a bit hard to generlize them, so make sure to check out the Setting Specific Rules when you can and hopefully before interacting with the world in question (visiting or getting a Companion from it).
So, you have your world and your starting Budget. Next?
Step 3) Origin
Well, you have to show up in your world somehow. Pick your preferred choice; Suddenly drop in, be already born there, or even possess a character in story. If you want, we can drop a character to act on your behalf somewhere... or even let you possess their body and then drop that elsewhere. Up to you, this is a rather easy step. However, depending on just what you want, this will cost Credits. Can't stuff you into Superman's body for free now.
Step 4) Binding and Lures
This is when we really start spending Credits. Bindings are your control methods for your new companions. Each one having their own perks, uses and possible down sides. Take a look, shop around just understand - You can only have ONE Binding. Buying a second one will remove the last one, and refund the credits spent. Make sure to check Refunds about this along with other purchases (No you can't game the system, we made it and will come to collect you if you try).
Lures and Other Control Methods however will work with anything so pick up some to help you attract and woo. Though, for a new contractor, Symbiote might want to be skipped over as it's a bit more complex.
Step 5) BUY BUY BUY
At this point your build is basically done. Go off into the world you picked out and have fun. You have more credit to spend? Go nuts.
- -Buy a Heritage to help Amp your Capturing abilities or help build a theme; from Dragonic Ruler making their own harem of treasured girls, to a sharp dressed Devil tempting girls into corruption. There's a number to look at. Some Heritage Perks even grant Talents and Defenses. They even host their own capture methods if you want something a little different.
- -Pick up Talents and Perks to upgrade yourself. Tune up your own body, understand Science easier, make traveling around easier, share talents with your companions, or pickup Defenses so you or your Retinue on't get instantly killed when visiting a world.
- Check out the Preimum upgrade section for your Retinue - Generic upgrades can be applyed to anyone so long as they fullfill the requirements. Good for making all your Waifus Taimanin Ninjas if you have the Credits. Or check out the Specific upgrades that can be picked up for that Waifu, usually empowing them.
- -Want a Ride? A personal demi plane? We got those too. Build your own personal Haven and decide just how you will rule it, or just buy a personal Yacht (Sea or Space) and enjoy sailing around with your crew of buxom babes.
- -Don't want to start your journey alone? Go ahead and pick a companion. Heck, pick two or however many you can buy. Yeet them into the world to find them later, Yoink them to start with your preferred Waifu from the world already with you (Yoink Nami at the start and have her convince the other Female Strawhats) or just Buy them outright. Or Buy Used and have to deal with... well, the baggage of a Waifu that got free one way or another.
Don't sweat skipping out on things, your handy dandy Contractor Smart Device will allow you to connect to the Catalog and purchase from us again. Though Heritages are easier to get off the ground at character creation.
Step 6) Add Ons
At this point you really should be done. Though there's still a few things you can do. Check out Missions or PVP for something to do or build towards besides getting a harem. Peruse Recruiter Jerynboe's own modifiers or possibly make some up yourself.
Or restart your build and take a Challenge to tackle. Everything is up to you now.
That should be enough to get new contractors at least set up with their build. If you have questions, fill free to ask in the comments. Make sure to check your handy Contractor device on the Website, down at the bottom of the page. It should keep track of all your info and sections along with a couple other features.
TLDR;
- Step 1) Determine your Intensity/Difficulty
- Step 2) Select your starting World and Budget (either the Pre-Made Budget options or the Catalog's)
- Step 3) Pick an Origin, yourself or another character
- Step 4) Purchase your Binding, upgrades and Lures
- Step 5) Purchase upgrades, buffs, Companions and extras from the catalog.
- Step 6) Finalize any purchases and upgrades.
Then start on your world and get to Capturing.
This Writer understands they might not have gotten the 'spirit' of the Company just right, but this is a quick tutorial to make a build.
