So What's Next?

Try To Contact April

(Originally by Cheese111)

Texas was in over her head in more ways than one. She needed backup. She needed April. As much as she didn't want to put her deputy in harm's way, she didn't see many other solutions. She couldn't let Vivian and Georgia lay down the law and undo all the good she'd done so far. Confident that all her pursuers had left, the weasel quietly snuck out of the trash. Peeking out from the alley she could see several of Vivian's burly henchmen posted around the town. Getting in or out without being seen would prove a challenge. Walking up and down the street was Georgia, an angry glare on her face. She was grumbling to herself loud enough for the sheriff to pick up on. Apparently the massive mare was offered her position in exchange for her arrest. If she showed up to Vivian empty-handed the mayor would probably look into assigning a more competent sheriff.

Silently the disgraced weasel sheriff stalked from building to building, keeping her head on a swivel to make sure nobody was onto her. Georgia's heavy steps were easy to track and provided Texas the opportunity to muffle her own footsteps. She was getting close to April's place. She spotted a hippo thug standing in the doorway, glaring out into the street. Did they get to her before she could? No, April was a resourceful one. She must've heard the commotion and slipped away before anyone came looking for her. Or so Texas hoped. She really didn't look forward to resolving this situation all on her own. She gritted her teeth and mumbled to herself.

"Ah varmints, now how am I gonna get to her? Think Texas, where'd she go in a situation like this?"

April had talked about hiding weapons and provisions in an abandoned farmhouse, just in case they'd find themselves separated from their things. But getting out of town unseen would be impossible until nightfall. Maybe she was hiding out in her house? Texas would have to weasel her way in without alerting the hippo bandit. Neither option felt very good to the sheriff, but **** times call for **** measures.
