Chapter 5 by gunde gunde

What is the task?

To tail someone

“If we’re going to talk business, I think I’ll need a drink.” Cathy smiled at the man. The amulet that the man was wearing meant that it was impossible for her to see if he smiled back or not, but at least he didn’t speak as Cathy reached out towards a bottle of wine which she had placed on the floor, bending down so that the stranger got a good look at the firm globes of her heart-shaped ass.

“Now,” Cathy began, while pulling the cork out of the bottle, “what is the task?”
“As I have already stated, it is a matter of both risk and delicacy,” the man started off, moving further into the room, his hands pressed against the small of his back, while Cathy tasted the wine.
“And you wouldn’t be here if you were not already sure that I could handle it, so feel free to tell me.” Cathy cut in.
“No,” the man admitted, “I would not.” As if this had been a significant confession, the man paused to take a deep breath before carrying on.

“There are diverse groups with diverse interests acting in this city, as you certainly know.”
“It doesn’t take a great mind to figure that out…” Cathy replied, leaning back against the wall and crossing her arms over her fit stomach, thus thrusting her heavy tits slightly upwards.

“By all accounts no,” the man stopped pacing, and turned to face Cathy again, “but amongst themselves, those groups create a balance that allows Tharros to continue to operate, to the benefit of all. Whether we are allied to the Empire or to the Jadhi is of little consequence, the trade that flows into this city is all that is important.”

“And now someone’s threatening to undo the balance…” Cathy suggested.
“Precisely, and that is where you come in. The merchant house of Jarles is one of the most powerful economic entities in Tharros, and now it is being threatened from the inside.”
“By who?”

“There’s a woman named Delanna de Iacosta, whose number two in the house’s section for slaves and ****. My people know for a fact that she is selling information, most likely concerning both her section and the house’s business in general, to someone else.”

Then, the stranger pulled loose a small pouch from his belt, and extracted a glimmering stone from its depths. As Cathy looked on, beams of light began to form out from the stone, slowly shaping themselves into the image of a woman’s head, caught in profile. Thick, rich locks of hair reaching down to her shoulders, the woman’s face was perfectly proportioned, all parts of it fitting together in a beautiful unity. As the image was coloured bronze, it was impossible to tell what her hair colour or her complexion was, but Cathy wouldn’t forget a face like that.

“This is an image of Delanna,” the man continued, “your job is to find out what information exactly it is that she is selling, and to whom. No **** is to be used.”
“And the pay?”
“You will be richly rewarded.” The stranger replied, his tone of voice signalling that Cathy should not press for specifics, but feel satisfied that he was telling her the truth.

“Alright, how soon do you want answers?”
“As soon as possible. Each unsanctioned passage of information concerning the house of Jarles hurts the interests that I represent.”

Shaking her head in silence, Cathy shifted her feet to spread her legs wider, unintentionally giving the stranger a head-on sight of her labia.

“I’ll start tonight.” She finally told him.
“Good.” The man replied, “You can contact me here.” He handed her a folded piece of paper, and then exited the room.
Unfolding the paper and memorizing the text scribbled on it, Cathy then tore it into longs shreds and stuffed them down the wine bottle.
