Time is an Ocean and I Must Flow

“First I want to know how does your watch work Nathan?” Jean-Marc said as he held a clipboard and pencil ready to take notes. “Well all I can do for now is pause time for instance I will click the dial on my watch as if I were using it like a stop watch and then unless I am touching someone everyone else will be frozen in time except for me and anyone I touched when I clicked the watch.” You said Jean-Marc furiously took notes.

“Good have you tried traveling through time itself perhaps into the future or into the past?” You hesitated before speaking. “I did travel into my one of my past memories to see my mother but I was a ghost I couldn’t touch her or interact with and she could see or hear me I believe.” “Good lets start there do you know if you can replicate this phantom experience in the present or if its limited to only the past?” You stared at your pocket watch before closing your first around the watch I don’t know but I have to try I know some organization known as the Black Hand is after me.

Jean-Marc dropped his clipboard and pencil flinching back at those words as if he had been struck in the chest. “Non impossible le main noir on mieu dieu!” You approached the old scientist as he sat on the floor. “Are you alright you look like you just saw a ghost what is it Jean-Marc?”

Jean-Marc looked up at you before speaking. “The black hand have been the enemies of the void since the void element was discovered dark and secretive wizards they are jealous of the knowledge and mastery of magic we could achieve Nathan and seek to eradicate any and all wizards of the void by any means necessary.”

They were supposed to wiped out by your predecessor but if what you say is true then you and your loved ones are in grave danger. Standing up Jean-Marc took up his pencil and clipboard before adopting a serious expression. “You must master the magic of time as you stand your regular magic wouldn’t be effective against them so first you must learn to become a phantom in the present such as in past we must train you and quickly!”

Nodding you flicked open your watch before closing your eyes you concentrated before you heard whispers. “Time is an ocean do not swim against the current simply flow with the current.” A disembodied voice said. Concentrate you took a deep breathe imagining your self in an ocean swimming you stopped swimming and floated releasing your breath as you allowed the ocean to guide you.

“On Mon Dieu” Jean-Marc gasped silently as slowly he witnessed your body become more and more transparent before you simply vanished into thin air. Opening your eyes you felt weightless and sensed something pushing against your back like a strong breeze. You looked at your hands and body to find your self transparent taking a step forward you you laughed you had done it looking around you saw Jean-Marc looking around his lab.

You smiled before panicking how were you going to go back? But then it hit you if time was ocean you were essentially doing the equivalent of floating then what if you started swimming once again. You closed you hand around your watch before closing your eyes as well. Breathing out you relaxed as your body attuned itself the magic you could feel new energy within once asleep now awaken you could feel the breeze stop and looking up you were whole again much to Jean-Marc astonishment and shock he began writing more notes down on his clipboard before laughing.

“Nicely done Mr. BlackThorn now do it faster.” He said with a smile. You smirked looking back before drawing your pocket watch this was gonna take a lot of work.
