Time For Lunch

As Lucy made her way out of the lecture room and down the hallway, Kimberly finished up the message she was typing out on her phone. What Professor Morris told Lucy had clearly had an impact. Lucy was moving quickly, there were tears gathering in her eyes, and she was breathing erratically. While Kimberly wanted to comfort/console Lucy, these actions were necessary. The sooner Lucy was broken of her human tendencies, the sooner she could live a happy life.

"Lucy, wait up!"

The cafeteria was on the other side of the campus, but at the pace Lucy was moving, they both arrived there in only a few minutes. Lucy made to move towards one of the bathrooms to freshen up, but several students appeared to have had the same thought. There was a fairly substantial line to get inside that Lucy could swear had not been there when she had first arrived at the cafeteria. Instead she grabbed some napkins and dabbed her eyes the best she could.

"I'm so hungry I could eat a horse," Kimberly exclaimed. She grabbed a tray so that she could get some lunch. In the past, she would have also grabbed a tray for Lucy, but things were different now. One of the staffers moved to collect the remaining trays so that Lucy might be dissuaded from eating like a human. Silently, Lucy reached out for the tray she expected her friend to retrieve.

"Sorry, Lucy. This is the last tray!"

Lucy eyed the cart that the trays were normally stacked up on. It didn't make sense that it would be empty, but it was. "Well, I'm not waiting for these guys to wash them. I'll just grab a plate."

Lucy's resistance was beginning to frustrate Kimberly, but fortunately, she had an idea, "Wait here. I'll get you something."

She disappeared to get a bowl for Lucy to use.
