What's next?
Thursday
You weren't surprised that the old farmer came back the next day. He sat down in the corner and rested his head on the table. He did not order anything. Just sat there.
You go into the kitchen to Mira. She was sitting on a stool peeling potatoes. When she saw you and your worried face, she stood up instantly.
"What's wrong Gunther?" she asked you, worried that something bad had happened.
"The farmer from yesterday is here again. He still can't seem to find peace at home. He's now lying with his head on the table, right here in front. Could you maybe take care of him a little? I'm sure you can do it better than I do."
It's only a brief moment. A brief second, indeed, perhaps only a fraction of it. But briefly, you have the feeling of seeing a sparkle in Mira's eyes.
"Sure!.. I mean yes, of course, if you wish it so. I'll sit with him for a while. Could you maybe..." she points to the bucket of potatoes.
"I'll take over." you reply.
"Thank you honey" says Mira and gives you a kiss on the cheek.
You sit down on the stool and take the knife in your hand. On the left the bucket with the potatoes, on the right for the peeled ones, in the middle for the peel itself.
The door to the main hall was open and you could see Mira sitting at the table talking to the farmer. She put her hand on his shoulder and patted him a little. She had a hand for that.
