Through the wall

You follow Frederick on a circuitous path around the city, until you reach a section of blank wall that’s nearby where the Gitanna compound is located. Glancing around, the elven man checks to be sure there’s no patrols nearby. You had evaded a couple of those along the way, something you hadn’t seen until today. Whatever got the Thenlan twins so agitated, they’re clearly ramping up their efforts to lock down the city.

Seeing the area is clear, Frederick leads you over to the wall. Reaching into a hidden pocket, he pulls out a small bracelet, silver and studded with small gems. He puts the bracelet on his arm, and puts his hand on the wall. A section of the wall seems to vanish, creating an opening into the courtyard of the Gitanna manor. With a wave, he indicates that you should go through. As soon as you enter, he follows, and the wall closes without a sound. Frederick once again secrets away the bracelet, and leads you towards the now familiar mansion.

I know he’s helping, but I still don’t trust him.

As always, Lira Gitanna is awaiting you at the door, but this time she’s joined by the rest of your girls. As soon as they see you, they all rush over, and you’re practically buried under an avalanche of hugs and kisses.

“We were worried!”

“They raided the warehouse.”

“I’m glad you’re safe, master!”

All of the girls are talking at once, but eventually they calm down and give you space to breathe. Glancing over, you see Lira watching with a smile. Seeing that the greeting is over, she nods.

“We have a lot to talk about, it seems. Whatever you’ve done, you stirred up the hornets nest. I’ve set up your girls in the guest quarters.”

She gestures towards a separate building, with guards stationed in front. “We will keep you safe here. Take some time to catch your breath, and I will await you in my study. My lady Kaeli, I would speak with you as well, if you would join us.”

Kaeli doesn’t say anything, simply looking to you. It seems she’s already taken to having you be in charge.

You nod to Lira. “Of course. Let me get everyone settled, and I’ll be there shortly.”

Lira smiles. “Take as long as you need, but the sooner I know what’s happening, the sooner we can get a handle on things.”

“I agree. As I said, I won’t be long. And I’ll bring Kaeli, as she is one of us, now.”

Kaeli nods, and Lira raises an eyebrow. “Really? You truly are an interesting individual, Nicholas. I’ll want to hear all about this. I must say, though, I believe I’ve made the right choice, throwing in with you. Go on, then. I will wait for you.”

You nod, and lead the girls away. They’re all talking among themselves, and you can’t blame them.
