Marius' Office

{endif}{if Marius' Office Event == true}You enter an office, that is unlike its door very modest. The windows only let sparse light into the room. The walls are hidden behind shelves of books and scrolls. The only other things in the room are a desk, a few chairs and an oil lamp. Behind the desk sits Marius, buried in a mountain of documents.

“Please, Tarian, take a seat. I’ve been waiting for you.”, he said without looking up. He had a faint smile on his lips. This couldn’t be good.

You sit down. “What do you want, Marius?”

“It’s Sir Marius.”

“What do you want, Sir Marius.” You pronounce the “Sir” so explicitly, that it sounds more like an insult.

He sighed and finally looked you in the eyes. “You know how a somewhat large department of the units positioned here is to be placed at the western front soon?”

“Yes, I am one of them, as you know.”

“Yes, yes, it’s meant to be the foundation of your career as Lieutenant. I got that. However, plans changed. You are to be a guard at the south entrance of castle Sankao instead.“

To you, this proved it. He was really trying, to prevent you from having any success. ”What? Why? You are the general of this castle. Why are you putting so much energy into sabotaging a lowly soldier like me?!“ At this point you are nearly screaming at him.

He looks at you bitterly. ”Believe me, I would like nothing better than for this to be my ploy. But no, it was your friend, Lady Lilleth, who asked me to relay this to you.“

You fall silent. This didn‘t make any sense. You looked at Marius warily.

Marius just shook his head. "Don‘t worry, there is more than one way to become lieutenant. I‘m sure Lilleth will make sure that you get your promotion one way or another.“

With that Marius started to look down on his desk again. For a moment you stood there, processing the information. Marius made a waving gesture with his hand to let you know, that you were free to go. You bowed ever so slightly and then left the room.

{else}You go into Marius' Office, but find nothing but a guard, watching you carefully.

"Sorry, I thought Marius might be here.", you say and go back to the Main Hall.
