Things go way better than you expected!

The rest of the meal is way lighter and more relaxed than you could possibly have hoped for. Emma Stone is funny – like, really funny, and she’s obviously doing her best to make your Emma laugh and feel included. You’re already two drinks down before you finish eating, and everyone’s eyes are shining slightly with **** by the time you all slump back into your seats, stuffed.

‘But, yeah,’ Emma Stone finishes, slightly tipsily, pushing her drink away. ‘When I saw that magazine cover, I laughed. Me and James? That’d just be fucking weird, man.’ She buffets you playfully with one arm. ‘No offence.’

‘None taken,’ you tell her lazily. ‘Have you ever even been kissed? I wouldn’t have thought you were capable of shutting up long enough for that to work.’

Emma snorts loudly. ‘Asshole. But also, yeah, fair enough. I’m gonna head to the restroom,’ she says, clambering out of the booth. ‘Emma, wanna join me?’

Emma Watson smiles, but shakes her head. ‘I’m okay. See you in a bit.’

The moment Emma Stone has disappeared around the corner, swaying slightly, Emma Watson slides out of her own seat – and then slides in right next to you, slipping a small arm around your waist protectively.

You look down at her, surprised. ‘You all right, sweetheart?’

‘Mm-hmm.’ Emma’s voice is low, but determined. ‘It’s fine, by the way, I believe you. She treats you exactly like she’s your big sister.’

You chuckle under your breath. ‘Oh, so I’m the brat?’

Emma jostles you lightly. ‘I think you take it in turns. Sorry for, you know…’ She clears her throat. ‘Not trusting you.’

You shake your head above her. ‘Seriously, stop apologizing. But thanks.’

Emma makes a satisfied sound and snuggles closer into your side. You smile, somewhat confused, and run a hand through her hair. ‘So what’s this all about, then? Stealing her seat?’
