What will happen next?
The wedding
The wedding was being held at a small venue, with only close family members and a handful of friends invited. It had always been Chloe and Mark’s plan to keep the ceremony intimate, so the limited guest list wasn’t unusual. What nobody expected was that the bride would be Clara instead of Chloe. Before the ceremony began, Mark stepped forward to address the guests. Clara, inhabiting Chloe’s body, stood beside him, while Chloe, in Clara’s body, waited nearby. Both sisters were nervous, knowing that everything depended on how convincing their explanation would be.
“There’s something we need to tell all of you,” Mark began. “The truth is that Chloe and I were never really in love. We pretended to be a couple because we were afraid of what everyone would think if I admitted that I loved Clara.” The guests exchanged surprised glances. A few looked toward “Chloe,” seemingly trying to reconcile Mark’s confession with everything they thought they knew about the couple. “We were afraid that people wouldn’t accept us,” Mark continued. “Clara is trans, and we didn’t know whether our families would understand. So, we kept our feelings a secret and let everyone believe Chloe and I were together. But I can’t keep pretending anymore. Clara is the woman I love, and she’s the one I want to marry.” “Chloe” stepped forward, supporting the story with a composed smile. “I knew about their feelings. I agreed to keep their relationship private because I wanted to protect my sister. I’m happy that they can finally be together.”
The room fell quiet for a moment before one of their relatives offered words of support. Others followed, expressing surprise but ultimately congratulating the couple for having the courage to be honest. The priest listened patiently and reminded everyone that marriage should be built on love, commitment, and respect. Clara felt a strange mixture of relief and discomfort. The guests believed she was finally being accepted for who she was, yet the entire story was a fabrication. Still, hearing Mark publicly declare his love to her own body stirred feelings she struggled to suppress. When the ceremony began, Mark stood beside Chloe. Despite his earlier hesitation, he appeared calmer now. He looked at his bride with genuine affection, and when they exchanged vows, his voice never wavered. The priest pronounced them husband and wife, and the guests applauded as they kissed. Chloe smiled with relief, while Clara joined in the celebration, carefully hiding her complicated feelings.
By the end of the ceremony, everyone seemed convinced that they had witnessed a couple finally finding the courage to be together. Clara watched Mark and Chloe standing together, accepting congratulations as husband and wife. She was happy that her sister had gotten her wedding after all, but she still couldn’t get used to seeing Mark so openly affectionate toward her own body. But for now, she pushed those feelings aside and smiled for the photographs.
