The sisters meet with Mark
Mark was waiting when the sisters arrived at his apartment. He had expected Chloe to explain the strange phone call, but nothing could have prepared him for seeing his fiancée in the body of her sister. For several seconds, he simply stared. Chloe, now trapped in Clara’s body, looked visibly uncomfortable under his gaze. Clara, meanwhile, tried to imagine what he must be thinking. “Okay, someone had better explain what the hell is going on,” Mark finally said. Chloe sighed, running a hand through her borrowed hair. “You have to believe me. I’m really Chloe, even if I am in Clara’s body right now.” Mark looked between the sisters, still struggling to process what he was hearing. Clara stepped in to support her sister. “She isn’t joking, Mark. We have no idea how this happened, and we haven’t found a way to change things back.”
Mark sat down, rubbing his face with both hands. Just a day before he was supposed to marry the woman of his dreams, his amazing fiancée had somehow ended up in her transgender sister’s body. He would never have believed such a thing was possible, and even now, he struggled to accept it. He loved Chloe, but he couldn’t deny that he was hesitant about going through with the wedding under these circumstances. Mark looked at her for a long moment. He could recognize her mannerisms and the anxiety in her expression, but seeing those expressed through Clara’s face and body was deeply unsettling. “Of course, I still want to marry you,” he finally said. “I’m just trying to understand all of this.”
Mark fell silent, considering their options. One possibility was to marry Clara while she inhabited Chloe’s body, allowing the ceremony to proceed like nothing happened. But that would mean marrying the wrong person, even if it is Chloe’s body. The alternative was to marry Chloe in Clara’s body, which would certainly raise questions from their guests. “Would you still marry me if I looked like this tomorrow?” Chloe asked quietly. Mark took her hand. “You’re still the woman I love, Chloe. A change in appearance doesn’t erase everything we’ve been through together.” “So, you’ll marry me in Clara’s body?” she asked, seeking confirmation. “If that’s what we have to do, then yes.” Clara watched them quietly. She admired Mark’s devotion, but a part of her couldn’t help feeling envious. She wondered whether someone could ever look at her with that same certainty. Glancing down at her borrowed body’s soft curves, she reminded herself that she was now living in a body she had always wished she could have.
Their next concern was the wedding dress. Chloe had been worried that it wouldn’t fit Clara’s body, potentially creating another problem at the last minute. Fortunately, the dress had already been delivered to Mark’s apartment for safekeeping. With some hesitation, Chloe tried it on. To everyone’s surprise, the dress fit perfectly. Its shape complemented Clara’s broader frame in ways Chloe hadn’t expected. Chloe examined herself in the mirror, turning slightly to see how the dress looked from different angles. Despite the unfamiliar face staring back at her, she couldn’t deny that the dress suited her surprisingly well. Mark, meanwhile, found himself captivated by the sight. At first, he had been too overwhelmed by the situation to think about anything beyond the wedding. But seeing Chloe standing there in her wedding dress, even in Clara’s body, stirred a familiar attraction. His eyes lingered on her, and he felt an erection forming despite his earlier hesitation. The realization surprised him, but it also reassured him that his feelings for Chloe hadn’t simply disappeared just because she is in a different body.
“Well, what do you think?” Chloe asked, glancing at him through the mirror. Mark quickly composed himself and smiled. “You look beautiful.” Chloe blushed, pleased by his reaction, even though being in Clara’s body still felt strange. Clara, on the other hand, said nothing. She was happy that her sister could still have her wedding, but seeing the dress fit her own body so perfectly, and watching Mark’s affectionate reaction, stirred feelings she wasn’t ready to confront.
