Is Lux fast enough?
The way out is in sight...
(Yes/No (Likely): Is Lux fast enough? | [6,3] Yes)
Lux’s feet pound painfully on the hard stone floor as she sprints for freedom. Eron’s voice rings out from odd gratings along the walls, directing her this way, then that. She can sense that she is indeed climbing up little by little, corridor by corridor, towards the surface.
“Next left!” Eron’s voice calls out. “Then ri – no, no, left again!”
Glancing along the corridor Eron just warned her off from, Lux sees a group of the outcasts surrounded by metallic pillars that crackle with lightning. The defence system has started its round-up of the intruders – and Lux wouldn’t want to be in their shoes.
A few more corners, following Eron’s frantic directions, and Lux’s strength is almost spent. She stumbles against a stone wall and looks up – to see the distant glow of sunlight.
The sight renews her resolve and she pushes off the wall to keep running. The door to the outside, the blinding glare of freedom, is just within reach – although, even now, a heavy stone door is starting to slowly swing closed.
Lux hears a shout, and looks around to see a familiar figure – the leader of the bandits, who assaulted her out on the hills. He’s trying to rally his remaining men as they also run for the exit, a few steps behind her.
Their eyes meet, and the bandit quickens his pace. Lux feels a tingle of fear, but a much stronger impulse for revenge…
