The sister who asked

“Why doesn’t Lily do it? She asked the question.” Said Alex.

The other girls nodded in agreement, except for Lily.

“Yeah Lily, this was your idea.” Said Ivy, her sister.

“No way.”

“Its not that bad. It’s for God, remember?”

“If it’s not that bad then why don’t you do it.”

“Because it was your idea.”

“You told me to ask.”

“I did not.”

“Yes you did. You whispered it to me, because we were thinking the same thing.”

“Enough.” Said Ashley. “Look why don’t you both play Rock Paper Scissors for it. Best of three, loser strips.

They looked at each other. Not wanting to take the risk, but not wanting to back down either, they both agreed.

They both stood up and faced each other. Only one of them would be sitting back down. They put their hands out and counted to three. On three they threw their hands out with their weapon of choice. The first round went to Ivy. Lily looked humiliated. The second round went to Lily, and it was Ivy’s turn to worry. They each needed one more point to win. Though they were both hesitant, they tried again.

“Rock…” said Lily.

“… Paper…” said Ivy.

“… Scissors..” said Ashley, and mouthed by almost everyone else in the room.

“Shoot!” They both declared.

Lily looked down at her hand. She had chosen scissors. She meant to choose rock, but changed her mind at the last minute, just before putting her hand down. She looked up at the competition.
