Chapter 7

What's next?
The rest of the guardians arrive, after a bit of a banter
"Don't go pressing that fake chest on him now, it might slip up."
Huh ?
"Him ?"
"Fake ?"
The reaction from the two undead was simultaneous, they looked at the dark elf, then at each other before politely backing off from one another, Falthène hiding his embarassement with a fake cough - fooling no one.
"How d'you know that ?!" seems her fancy tone just took a vacation.
"That he is a man or that you're a fake ?"
"Both !"
"Anyone with eyes can tell. Thoses are poorly stuffed." Aura pointed at her chest. "And male fairies have bigger wing, often bigger than their own body."
How did she knew that, honestly the fairy couldn't say, probably because elfes and fairy were always somewhat close, or Mare learned it in a book and told it to her who knows.
"With such a poor handywork, i'm sure it goes straight to the ground the minute you start running."
"Hiii !"
"Bullseye ! That's why you used portal !"
"Shut up ! You brat ! I'm gonna make you regret it !"
Looking at them like that... They look a bit like sisters, don't they ? Well, Aura's actual brother was shivering, seing the previously puppy like elf acting like a rabid dog and all, but this seems like what a banter between two sisters would look like... From what he gavered from his books at least. Also is it him or is it getting a bit cold ?
"How noisy you are." interrupted a distorded voice from far back, precisely from the entrance of the collyseum. Putting an end to their disputes, a demon seemingly the crossing between a praying mantis and an ant, with a shell which blue reminded the drowned of an icy lack in the middle of the winter and a body high of two and a half meter, he was looking at the fifth floor guardian, Cocytus. He came armed of an halberd, a katana and a mass, all beautifull pieces of art, just as pretty as they were deadly.
"Cease this bickering, you are in front of our monarch !" His struck the ground with his halberd, causing it to freeze slightly. Cocytus, the master of the glacier, had power over the ice attribute. Was it not for it's resistance given by his drowned subspecies, the fairy would be shivering from the sudden drop of temperature, and would feel sleepy. They were a species that hibernated, and had a slight disadvantage against ice attack. But the drowned having an immunity to them, this weakness was non-existent now, although he could still weirdly feel when a place was getting cold. It was good, he liked cool places, helped rest better.
"The brat is insulting me !"
"I'm simply telling the truth as it is !"
"Aura, Shalltear, stop behaving as children." The words of their king stopped every and any begging from the twins. His tone didn't let any place to negociations, it was an order, and therefore, was absolute, everyone knew that.
"We apologize lord Momonga !" both said in unison. There we go, no more disputes for now, at least the fairy hoped.
"Thanks for answering my call, Cocytus."
"I'll always do so, my lord." a light cloud of frost escaped his... mouth ? Well, it seemed he felt the stare of the librarian on him, as he now turned his head towards Falthène, but the undead couldnt tell if he was looking at him or not. He could tell the expressions of another undead, but not of a bug-type heteromorph. "Are you per chance, a floor guardian too ?"
"I am indeed. My name is Falthène Life Heartmade" this time, he didn't hesitate, this reality was starting to settle nicely in his memories. "Guardian of the tenth floor and of Ashurbanipal. It's an honor to meet you."
"The sentiment is shared. Your reputation preceeds you even in the higher floor. Meeting such a warrior is always a delight."
"Please, i'm no warrior. I'm simply a mage that got lucky."
"Nonsense. A man that aim to better himself for the sake of his lord is worthy of being called a warrior, be it by the sword or by the mind."
"You honor me once again, Cocytus. I'll keep thoses words at h-"
"How did you know !"
"Hm ?" Cocytus was just as surprised as Falthène from this interruption. Shalltear continued.
"How did you know he was a man ?!"
"How could i not. Fairies have bigger wings when they are male."
"Why are you saying that as if it was an obvious thing to know ! Falthène is our only fairy, and almost nobody met him before today !"
"I-I did."
"I said almost."
"Fairies are similar to my kin." He might be referencing the insect-type heteromorph. The librarian felt no sense of kinship whatsoever with the specific species composing the floor guardian. They didn't even had wings. "It is common knowledge amongst ourselves."
"Ha-ha ! You had an advantage !" If you can call it that, but Falthène feared that she might get angry at him if he speaked his mind outloud. Again, his ears perked up as he heard footsteps. And a slight "oooh" coming from the vampire for, whatever reason. When he turned his head towards her, she was already looking away.
"Please forgive my tardiness."
Another big man. Although svelte compared to the massive Cocytus. Slightly tanned, wearing glasses that hides his eyes and a tuxedo making him look like a lawyer or a shroud buisnessman. The only proof to his evil nature being the tail lazily waving behind him, looking like a metal centipede. At his side, the regeant Albedo, giving the pair an air of angel and demon coming to judge your sins at the end of your life. They could play the part, they were beautifull enough to.
This is Demiurge, the floor guardian of the seventh floor. The creator of the flame inferno and also the one responsible for communication between other members of Nazarick and for it's defense.
"Everyone is here it seems." commented their lord.
"It seems two people are still missing lord Momonga." If the devil himself had a voice, this would be his, no discussion. Demiurge voice had the capacity to control the spirit of weak-minded individual, much like Falthène himself could, but to the floor guardians who each where at the highest level, it simply sounded like a melodious voice. Still, the nature of their mind controlling abilities being different, where Demiurge's voice could charm someone by it's suave nature, Falthène had a more etheral tone to his, a voice that could put even the old gods to sleep in a way that brought trust and comfort to thoses hearing it.
"They do not have to come. Their orders take precedence." That would be Gargantua and Victim. If Victim could come, for Gargantua it wouldn't matter if he did.
"Very well."
"It seems my dear friend isn't here either."
Dear friend ? Looking at the reactions from the women here, either it's an unsightly fellow, or someone that could not take no for an answer. Either way, Falthène never heard of such friend, the most "annoying" member of Nazarick he could think of at the top of his head was éclair, and he was rather endearing. Maybe in the upper floor it was different.
"That thing... man is just one of the numerous protector of my level." Answered half-heartedly the pure vampire. Falthène wasn't even that in the previous reality, the guardian of his area was a pure drowned, but he couldn't really remember his name.
"I mean... Yeah..." Even Aura was not thrilled at the thought of being in the same area as that "friend" it seems.
"Count Terror ? Indeed we should inform the area guardian of this meeting, like Guren and Grant. i'll leave this task to you."
Guren he knew of him. It's the magma-slime guarding the river of magma of the seventh level, but this Grant is a mystery. It probably would be impolite to ask who he, she or it is, at least while their lord is here. This meeting has been delayed far enough already.
