The next night

Kitty and Barbara met with their mentors atop the roof of the GCU library the next evening. "There you are. Ya look like you enjoyed your stay," Logan commented to Kitty. "Seems like you two get along pretty damn well."

"Yeah... we had a, um, a really productive week," Kitty answered, blushing under her mask. "We didn't see Bane or Deathstrike, but we still did some good work."

"I've read the police reports," Batman said, sounding slightly impressed. "You two did well."

"Yeah, Kitty & I make a really great team," Barbara added. "A really, *really* great team."

"So what did you find?" Bruce asked Logan, turning the group's attention to the task at hand.

"I went sniffin' around the old Weapon X facility," Logan explained. "Yuriko's got the goddamn place up and runnin' again. Found out that she's been shipping a lot of supplies between there and Gotham..."

"Venom," Bruce deduced. "It looks like my suspicions were correct... they're likely using venom on their thugs to test a potential adamantium bond."

Logan nodded in confirmation "Sounds about right. I saw plenty of messed up corpses in tanks. Hulking corpses that went through the bonding process and didn't survive it."

"It sounds like they haven't quite worked things out," Batman remarked. "But if they manage to perfect the process, Bane would have an army of nearly unbreakable enforcers at his disposal... Gotham would be completely at his mercy."

"So what do we do now?" Kitty asked.

Barbara was the first to speak up. "I say we track down and destroy any venom supply lines to and from Canada. I've got plenty of info on Bane's thugs in the city -- we can start with that."

"Good thinkin' kid," Logan agreed. "Give me a place to start, and I can track down any shipments here in Gotham. Any objections, Bat?"

"I'm not going to turn down your help, Wolverine. Especially since your skill set makes you uniquely suited for this type of mission," Bruce conceded. "But if you're going to work in my town, you do things my way."

"I'll try. No promises though," Logan grunted.

"That's probably as close to agreement as you'll get," Kitty told Bruce.

Batman nodded at Kitty. "I figured as much. But if you step out of line, Logan, I'll deal with you myself..."

"I ain't some wild animal. I can play by the rules if I need to," Logan shot back. "But if I gotta break 'em, I won't hesitate to do what I have to."

"We'll cross that bridge if we get to it," Batman said. "Right now we've got higher priorities."

Logan nodded curtly. "On that we can agree. Standin' around jawin' isn't gonna stop Bane and Deathstrike. So where do we start?"

"According to some chatter I picked up, Bane was sighted at a warehouse on the outskirts of town a few days ago," Barbara reported. "But if there was any venom there, it's long gone now..."

"Not a problem. I'm sure I can find something there," Logan said. "I'm the best at what I do."

"We'll see about that," Batman remarked as he turned to leave, with Logan following shortly behind.

"Well, that went better than I expected," Barbara remarked. "So when do you wanna tell 'em that we're dating?"

"Judging by how thrilled they seem to be to be working together... probably never," Kitty suggested.

Barbara chuckled. "Sounds about right... seriously, though I say we at least wait until this case is over."

"Good idea," Kitty agreed, kissing Barbara on the cheek. "Let's get going."
